This is a carryover from the closed thread.

LC: I have no idea what “overly policed” means. And I don’t know where you’ve been for the past 20 years but in that time frame, crime, in just about every category, has decreased.
Dr MW wrote: The deployment of k9's need to be closley monitored. When we have a k9 deployed who can't out when it counts(real life not training)I question it's value.
LC: I haven’t seen the deployment in question but someone else has pointed out that we don’t even know if the handler tried to out the dog. How do you know?
Dr MW wrote: No obedience,no tactics.
LC: Hmmm. Didn’t the dog enter the suspect vehicle bite, the occupant and then drag him out? Sounds like OB and tactics to me.
Dr MW wrote: Who made the k9 handler not only a police officer,a judge & executioner all rolled into one.
LC: The job of a police officer is to make arrests. Sometimes force is necessary in that endeavor. We don’t make those decisions, the suspects do. I’d just as soon not have to fight anyone into jail. I’d just as soon that everyone went as peacefully as possible. But that’s not my decision. Police officers just respond to what suspects do.
LC: Don’t want to be beaten up by the police? It’s real easy. Here are a few rules to help you get through that experience. There are a couple of steps to this. 1. Don't break any laws. I know that this one is difficult. Sometimes the Bank's money just happens to fall into your pocket and the fact that you're wearing a ski mask and holding a gun is because you had a difficult childhood and mommy didn't love you enough, but at least try. 2. If you break rule #1, when the police car pulls in behind yours and the officer turns on his lights and siren, pull over as soon as traffic and the road permit. Don't drive away hoping to make the 6 o'clock news because it makes us nervous. Accidents can happen. 3. If you violate rules #1 and #2 when you finally do stop your car, the police will want to point their guns at you. Do as they ask. If they want you to dance a jig, fire up the band. If they ask you to fly, start flapping your arms. HINT: They really won't ask you to do anything like that. They’ll ask you to put your hands up, perhaps lie down on the ground, they’ll probably want to handcuff you and you probably should let them. It’s probably not a good idea to pretend that you have a gun. It's not a good time to play quick draw and show the officer how fast you can draw. 4. If you decide to violate all of these preceding rules, expect that you might get shot. A police officer might send his police dog to bite you. You might get hit by a baton. But it's amazingly simple to avoid ALL of this.
Dr MW wrote: Surely confrontational policing belongs in yesterdays not on the streets of America today.Litigation involving police k9's allways start after one act 'BITING' never tracking, detection etc Violence starts were knowlegde ends.
LC: Violence starts when crooks resist arrest. I'm sure that you have some plan for removing the suspect from the car. Let's hear it please. And while you're at it please sign your post so we all know who we're dealing with.
