Hey all, i brought my Rotty to Schutzhund last night for the first time for drive testing. I have brought up her prey drive enough that i think she can do it. besides being a little distracted by the crowd she did do a few good bites on the long tug and that was it.
She however seems a little off put anytime i put her on a post or am posting her myself. She is willing to play until she hits the end and feels the tension.
I'm using a protection harness & I'm trying to get her to hit the tug inside the circle and then play backward until she hits the end to make her more comfortable with feeling. it works okay but she still seems to loose drive as soon as she feels the tension.
any other ideas on how to work past or around this?
To much obedience corrections for pulling?! Not strong enough drive?! lack of confidence?!
Could be any number of reasons without seeing what's going on.
The statement that you said "I have brought her prey drive up enough that I THINK she could do it" is sort of a red flag to me that maybe she really isn't suited for bite sport.
What did the Schutzhund trainer have to say about her?
