Ball for the Drive and Focus work

"It's soft, safe, and a great training aid. The best training ball on a rope I have ever seen!" Ed Frawley

After training dogs for 45 years it takes a little to get me excited about a new dog product. This Orbee ball got me excited. It is never going to hurt dogs teeth like tennis balls do.
The orbee ball on a string is the best I've seen. I cannot tell you how amazed I was when I first picked it up. A friend of mine who is a professional dog trainer told me about this ball. Her personal dog has had an orbee ball on the string for two years and LOVES IT!
One of my most popular training DVD's is Building Drive and Focus. The work in this DVD involves building prey drive through drive development using a ball on a string. In that video I go into detail on why it's so important to use the right kind of ball for this training. No matter how good you are at the work you are going to mistakenly hit your dog in the head while making drive with the ball on a string. This is normal and no one is perfect. The problem is that when you use a hard rubber ball and hit your dog in the head - rather than put drive into the dog - you end up hurting him and this results in taking drive out of the dog.
Getting hit with this Orbee ball is not going to hurt the dog.
The material in this orbree ball is made from is soft yet virtually indestructable. It is non-toxic, recyclable, and mint scented.
Like all training equipment you need to be responsible in how you handle it - we NEVER leave balls or toys with our dogs and we dont recommend you do either. Not ever!
The only thing you may have to do with the rope on the orbee ball is re-tie the rope into your own knots. When we use the ball to play tug with our dogs the ends of the rope (which are sewn together) sometimes come undone. We simply re-tie the ends together rather than worry about re-stitching the rope together. It actually works better with knots. (See photo below.)

An Orbee-Tuff Ball is a softer ball that is
not going to hurt
a dog if it's accidentally hit in the head during drive building.
All Orbee-Tuff Balls float and make an excellent water toy.
They can also be chilled in the freezer for a cool toy in the hot weather.
No toy is 100% indestructible. It is unrealistic to expect that from any toy. The toys that we sell at Leerburg® are the best quality and most durable that we have found. Always supervise your dog when playing with toys. Periodically inspect all toys for damage. Do not allow your dog to continue to play with a damaged or broken toy. |

Testimonials on the "Orbee-Tuff Ball on a String" |
Review 1 for the "Orbee-Tuff Ball on a String" Dear Folks Leerburg, We live in South Africa and love your website. It is very difficult to obtain good quality dog training equipment and with our South African currency being 6:1 against the dollar importing goods can be very costly. Then, there is our South African Postal Service – don’t get me started! If you don’t want something to reach its destination – Then post it! I was so intrigued by the Orbee ball that I took the plunge and ordered 3 balls from your site. Imagine how pleased I was when 10 days later my parcel from Leerburg arrived. Thank you so much for the prompt service. Now…. About the balls, they are fabulous! We have trained and Qualified IPO and Schutzhund with our 2 Bernese Mountain Dogs. They love to bite – and do it extremely well. We have retired our dogs from active competition (they are 7 years old and for a large breed dog, that is a good age to start taking it a bit easier) but we still train them – just for fun! Needless to say your Orbee Ball can withstand the crushing jaws of a 50 kg BMD that can easily shake a 200 pound helper until his teeth rattle – and the orbee ball survived to tell the tale! Below are some pics of the boyz enjoying a good tug of war with their O-Balls. (PS: the O-Ball smells “minty” – very nice… beats old dog slobber any day). Thank you for the great service and excellent quality products! Warmest Regards

Review 3 for the "Orbee-Tuff Ball on a String" Those Orbee balls are awesome, the ones that I received last year still look like new. I use them for training & my two older females like playing with them for toys & chewing them, they are so far indestructible……..great product!!! Terry |
Review 4 for the "Orbee-Tuff Ball on a String" Mr. Frawley, I am glad you added the Orbee ball on a string to your inventory. My new pup wouldn't bite or grip the old hard ball on the string, he would always go for the string. I think it was too hard for him to bite. Now, he is targeting, biting and tugging the medium Orbee. The new leather rag is also nice and is getting a good work out. My pup loves the leather rag tug. Thanks, |
