Theo Dijkman & Bob Neijts
This photo is available as a 17" x 24" full color poster. It's printed on a high gloss paper that is suitable to hang as is or in a frame. The center dog is a Leerburg Dog, the surrounding photos are from Theo Dijkman, Baarn, Netherlands and my friend Bob Neijts from Holland.
A Few Good Men
The photo was taken in South Lebanon. The photo shows the United Nations (UNIFIL) Norwegian Dog Platoon.
Norway was the only battalion to use dogs in the line of duty. They had 10 patrol dogs, 1 bomb/explosives dog and 3 narcotic dogs. The patrol dogs were GSDs, and their job was to go in front of the night patrols with their handlers as “point man,” to detect personnel ahead of or on the sides of the patrols. This task they accomplished time and time again. We earned the motto: “We Own the Night.”
The dogs are trained in Norway at The Norwegian Military K-9 Sentry.
The Rainbow Bridge
When I have a friend who loses their dog I always give them a copy of this poem. The glossy photo quality print is 10" by 12.5." I have my copy framed along with pictures of Nickie that hang in my living room.
