Product Description
I am often asked by customers if they should buy an agitation harness or a wide leather collar for bite work training. The answer to this question lies with their dog. The purpose for either one of these training aids is to insure the safety of their dog during protection training. Some dogs have so much drive that they choke themselves during bite training, even if they are worked on the "dead ring" of a normal prong collar. If this is happening to your dog, you need to make a change. For many dogs, a wider collar (1 1/4 inch) is enough. If a handler feels he needs more than this he can go to a 2" wide leather agitation collar or even a Leather Agitation Harness.

MADE IN THE USA
Leerburg leather products are works of art.
The cow hides used to make all of Leerburg's leather are hand selected for Leerburg before tanning. We need and use the thickest hides available. Our hides go through over 85 steps in a tanning process that takes over a month. There are many types of Latigo leather that are made in Mexico, India, or Pakistan, but none can compare to the quality of Leerburg’s Latigo leather.
Once tanned, our Leerburg Leather is delivered to the Amish family that crafts our leather products right here in Wisconsin. Our 4 Amish craftsmen have been making Leerburg leather products since 1990.
These 5 Amish craftsmen hand cut, sew, pop-rivet, and tailor all of our leather products. We have yet to come across another leather product that measures up to our products' quality.
100% of Leerburg leather products are made in Wisconsin. We don't use leather from India, Pakistan, or Mexico.

The leather is exactly what they describe it as; top-tier quality. From the tanning to the cuts and build is far superior than the overpriced and far inferior gear I’d been buying elsewhere.
The leather selected is perfect for an agitation collar. It’s has a great mix between being stiff enough to hold form vertically and supple enough to be comfortable for the dog laterally and when “ agitated”. Hardware is perfect for its purpose.
This collar isn’t going anywhere. I’d imagine if the leather is caged for, this one of those lifetime purchases.
My Mals neck is a hair over 18”. I would have preferred the shorter of the two, but only the longer was available and I just wasn’t patient.
But it’s works. Not as much overhang as I expected. It adds a slight bit more bulk and you definitely need to buy one of the leather collar keeps they offer, but it’s nothing excessive for an 18” neck.
I have a saddle maker her locally and may have him shorten the collar at some point. I’ll wait to see how she hangs once the leather breaks in nice.
Honestly, I can’t imagine ever needing another agitation collar. This is by far the standard by which all leather agitation collars should be made. Can’t say enough really.
Looking forward to giving the sister agitation harness a go. If it even comes close it won’t disappoint.
I’m so happy with the quality that I’m considering ditching my “ *** *****” agitation muzzle and starting from scratch with a Leerburg muzzle. It’s an obvious difference in leather quality. Seems easier to size and with more size options. The leather used on the head strap and back strap appear to be if the same quality as the muzzle itself. Unlike my current muzzle. I’d imagine it will be built with a bit more care. My current 200usd muzzle appears to have been built “ in house” on a Friday a 3pm. Due to that, the muzzle wants to sit cocked on his snout. I promise you that if I ever had to get control of my Mal by the head strap( not designed for that but we all know it happens) it would snap instantly.
I’ll review those when I can order them.
But if you’re on the fence about a leather collar, I can’t imagine anybody would be disappointed in this purchase.
Check check triple check you’re sizing.
This is a 2” agitation collar. Can be worn as an everyday collar but it they serve a purpose. As such they are very big collars. They will have more weight to them than a typical collar.
Only minor gripe is they run a bit on large (not really a gripe) so I'm buying a medium for my oversize male Malinois. The large size left a bit much hanging loose which is no biggie but I'm really picky.
