Description

All of these sleeves are ambidextrous and made from durable French linen material. The level of equipment you will use in training depends on the individual dog. Many customers think the sleeve choice is only based on the age or breed of the dog but it depends on your dog’s temperament, experience and genetic ability as well as the sport or activity you will be participating in. If you have any doubt about which item to select please consult with your trainer or submit a question to Ask Cindy with as many details as possible.

Soft sleeves allow a dog to feel movement of the helper's arm during training and this can build confidence in a young or green dog as well as prepare police dogs and personal protection dogs for more realistic experiences. A Neoprene sleeve can be worn under these sleeves for added protection.

Level 1 Sleeve

(Comparable to Seynaeve Level 1 Synthetic Puppy Arm Sleeve)

For puppies around 6-8 weeks up to teething.

We start puppies on a soft leather or jute bite rag and the Level 1 Sleeve

This Level 1 sleeve is 17 inches long and is designed to cover and protect the forearm. There is NO handle inside (the other more advanced sleeves do have a handle) The idea behind this sleeve is to build confidence and good gripping behavior in a puppy while exposing them to different biting surfaces and textures. You can also use this as a tug or attach it to a line or flirt pole.

Level 2

For older or more experienced puppies, large breed puppies or small adult dogs new to protection work.

This sleeve extends beyond the forearm, measures 25 inches long and has a handle inside for the decoy/trainer to grip.

The switch to the Level 2 sleeve should take place when the pup has sufficient mouth size and grip strength to bite and hold onto this sleeve.

Level 5

(Comparable to Seynaeve Level 4 Intermediate Synthetic Soft Sleeve)

Transition to this sleeve is for a more advanceddog that has already developed a full and firm bite. When to use this harder sleeve will depend on your dog’s skill level, Like all dog training when to move on to a more firm or larger sleeve is dog dependent.

Where to go from here:

If you are going to be training in French Ring, Mondioring or PSA the next step would be the Seynaeve Level 5 Advanced Synthetic Arm Sleeve.
