I bought the large size for our 8 yo GSD who drags his right rear leg a bit when he walks, due to joint issues, which causes his paw to bleed. He only needs one for that foot. I was a bit skeptical that they would work based on the written review saying they couldn’t get them on because of the small opening. I did struggle putting them on using my fingers (i’m a woman, 5’4”, 110lbs) but was successful. We had been using MuttLuks and went thru 4 boots in about a month because the bottom wore out. I don’t recommend that brand. After one walk, I can say that these Pawz boots worked great and held up well, and he walked like they were not even there. I did come up with a solution to help put them on. I wrapped the opening around a Mason/Bar jar lid ring and can easily slide the ring over his paw to install the boot and then slide the ring back over the foot once the boot is on. The company does sell a device to assist, but I think my idea will work just fine and it’s cheaper. :)

We have three dogs two needed a product like this. Sierra had Juvenile Hip Dysplasia at 4 mos. by 5 mos. both hips had been surgically replaced. Fast forward, at 12 she has spine pain, neuralgia (nerve pain) and snow really bothers her, as well as needing traction on hard surfaces. Shiloh our fuzzy beast has such thick fur in between his pads, even trimmed short when the snow packs in it bothers him terribly. Both GSD’s Sierra is 89lbs and Shiloh is 118 lbs with amazing amounts of fur on the tops of his feet. I measured both of them and purchased the appropriate size. Sierra L, Shiloh XL but they were out at my local. Sierra and I were cracking up as I attempted to pu these dumb things on her. It was possible that the balloon part was gonna fit, cause that’s what these are. But, the opening is so narrow Even if I could get her adorable feet in they would have cut off the circulation and done far more damage. Based on my experience with Sierra I would measure and buy 1-2 sizes up. Problem, then the balloon part will be floppy sloppy? Honestly I can’t recommend. I think they need to scale for big dogs, make the opening appropriate for big dogs or not make them at all, bit tired of sloppy seconds for my German Shepherds. Mine have sat in the bag waiting to return, if you can’t get’em on they’re useless!
