I thought I would ask, mainly just for fun, what is your day to day schedule like? To be honest with two dogs, one in full fledged bratty teenager stage, and an almost 4 year old some days I am simply exhausted. Sometimes, I have to really drag my a$$ out the door to give them their walks when I really don't want to LOL
Also, do most of you with children take your little ones out with you on your daily walks? What about poor weather conditions? There were a couple really rainy/flooded days a couple weeks ago and Capone was making me NUTS stuck inside all day.
I wonder how Ed and Cindy get all of those high energy dogs exercised and trained every day. Maybe I am just lazy haha
ETA: by almost 4 year old, I mean my daughter, not the dog. lol

My 3 mutts start about 4-4:30 in the morning baking to be let out for their walks for about an hour and a bit depending on where we go then it's brekky for me and them and off to work. When I get home it's a bit of playtime/training then dinner and I'm buggered by about 8 so relax and bed! I made a big mistake taking on 3 puppies my oldest boy was 6 months when we brought a brother and sister combination home at 10 weeks, they're 16 months and 12 months now and starting to settle a little now but it was hard for awhile when we had to limit their walks but now I try to keep them tired!

My day varies depending on my work schedule (I start work at different times of the day unfortunately). But, we'll use the standard for me, which is:
- Get up at 5:45am, take Faroh outside - strictly business. Feed him breakfast in his crate, while I shower and get ready to go.
- Although I don't start work until 7:30am, I leave my house no later than 6:30am, in order to take him to the park first. We usually do a combo of light OB, walking and tug.
- I bring Faroh to work with me, he is kept in a crate, in the very back of the clinic. He sleeps quietly or chews a toy all day.
- On my lunch hour, we either go to the waterfall up the street, or work on desensitizing on a busier street.
- After work, things vary. Sometimes I'm off at 3:30pm, sometimes 6:30pm. If it's early, we go to the provincial park. If not, we play indoor or backyard games. Right now, we are frantically working on "identify" for the contest, but I'm very sick, and losing hope
- While I'm on the computer, Faroh brings things for me to throw, or spends an ample amount of time attacking his most favorite thing - his giant "tuff-ee" red dino. He is teething, so he also spends a lot of time chewing frozen things.
- Overall, I would say 90% of my waking free time is spent with him, and at least 65% of it is spent actively engaged with him.

Well, for me, it's a life choice. I make a lot of sacrifices because I enjoy the time we spend together.

My ideal day is waking up around 6:30 and taking them on a nice walk. Then breakfast and off to work (one crated because he thinks my house is a toilet or an avenue to get under my skin...either way its crate for my little monster).
-Sometimes I get the chance to come home for lunch and they get some backyard playtime and light OB.
When I come home I rollarblade with Maggie. She has a TON of energy and so we try and get all of that out so my husband and I can sleep . After dinner (both for us and the kids) we would go for a nice walk and then bed time.
I try and squeeze in training whenever possible so like maybe between commercials, when we go new places, when I'm cooking dinner, cleaning, ect. I try to keep it as simple as possibel and as different as possible since she knows all of her basic commands (I dont want her only working in the kitchen ) If we train on something new I dedicate specific times and places for a schedule. Whether or not I get the oppurtunity to stick to it is a whole nother ball game.

It would be fun if people would film and post part of their day so we could see their world. Ram's posts are fascinating to me and I'd love to see Kiersten's world in Alaska.

I've thought about photographing the places I take Roger and posting them here.
I am lucky to live in a heavily wooded area, and a miles-long nature trail is just steps away from my front door. Roger and I can disappear into the woods (on walkable trails!) for 3 or 4 hours without retracing our steps once.
We see deer, foxes, rabbits, and all kinds of birds on these hikes. And the woods are cleaved by a few streams, which we've got mighty creative in crossing.
All in all, it's the ultimate socializer. We see other humans and dogs sometimes, lots of other animals, and he is exposed to basically every kind of terrain you could imagine. It's awesome.
He gets 1-2 hours in the woods every day, at a minimum. Then comes back and naps for a few hours in his crate. Rinse and repeat.

I get up about 6 or 7, depending on my 2 yr old and 4 yr old kids. Sutter goes outside immediately to do his business. After the kids and I eat breakfast, he gets fed and goes out again. When my husband is on days, I take him for his walk in the evening, so hubby can watch the kids. When husband is on nights, I walk him in the morning. I'm home all day most days, and Sutter is happy so long as he is in the same room as the kids and I. In the evening, he is fed after his walk and after the family eats. We've been working on making him stay in a down while we eat, instead of pacing and whining or having to go in his crate. He's doing really well at it!
He sometimes sleeps in his crate at night, but usually prefers the back corner of the couch (on the floor) so he can see down the hall.
I missed walking him a lot during the first trimester of this pregnancy, though, because I was so exhausted and nauseous that I could barely function. We're both so glad to get that daily walk back into the routine. Sometimes it's the only quiet time I get all day.
To answer your question, Kristi, I try not to take the kids. The walk is my time. When the weather is nice, I will load them into the big stroller and take them along occasionally. Once the new baby gets here, I'll load her in the sling and take her with me, so long as it isn't too windy. With a tiny one, the walk helps her snuggle down for a nap, and I don't have to worry that she's screaming at her daddy while I'm gone. The only downside to this is that Sutter doesn't want anyone to approach while I have the baby.
