Does anyone know of a cheap way to detect a silent dog whistle?? My lovely neighbors who maced my dog last year(story on here) are using this to torment my dog.
Lorelei,
I don't think that there is a device ( that's affordable ) to detect noise in that range.
However, if you can see those neighbors doing it, take a picture or a video and call the police!!
Failing that, thare's the "eggs and pee" trick that might serve them notice that someone in the neighborhood is sick of their antics....
When I am not home where I can moniter the situation , I crate him inside. Tey have left him alone for a year, now this. I again called the Sherrif's office. Same thing, they lied said they did not have a small silver whistle with a key ring attatchment and double ridges at bottom. (like I could make that much up!!!)Security camera on the way that can see very fine details and has audio so hopefully I can detect the whistle.
We had some when we first bought our house. Apparently, the whole area once belonged to their parents or some sort of relative. (We live in the country.) We kept finding nails in our driveway and replaced tires on both vehicles.
We called the police and in their presence, I just told them that our goal was to live peacefully, but that we had no tolerance for that sort of thing. I said we would not play stupid games and would not be involved with any sort of altercation, but that we were prepared and financially able to hold them responsible for any damages or harassment and that would be our retaliation if it continued. We have not had any other problems, but I keep my dogs close in case they decided to be jerks.
Bullies are usually cowards...and not willing to enter a legal battle.
Alright its killing me!!! Whats the eggs and pee trick!!
Eggs and pee:
one gallon empty mayo jar ( or similar container )
one dozen eggs
urine
Break the dozen eggs into the container. Add the urine, and leave un-capped for three days.
Then cap the container and leave the jar alone for six months - do *not* allow to freeze!
At the end of six months, you have a solution that smells so foul that you will need a gas mask to open this ( inexpensive surplus gas masks will work fine for this ).
In my mis-spent youth, and few buddies of mine poured a jar of this stuff onto the road in the path of the annual Mayday parade that the local commies would have each year - it literally stopped the parade completely. Much hilarity ensued....
The stuff really does have a thousand and one uses.....
