I like the antlers, as they don't smell (to humans!), BUT, my crazy aggressive chewer goes through them so fast they are not economical, and I've noticed some deep wear marks on his teeth. (deeper then I'd like to see on a 2 yr old dog, at least) - so just my caution, for those that have dogs that are super intense chewers.
Love bully sticks!
I really love hearing the owners of the petstore/groom shop describe exactly WHAT they are to little ol' ladies looking for a nice chew. Ummm. It's a lean muscle meat, and digestible? lol. Ya just can't say 'Oh, it's a bull's penis' to some folks.
the refills are super affordable and they last a good amount of time even for the two shark jawed demons in our house. My dog and my housemate's dog LOVE the vanilla mint a little to much (they finish it really quickly), we've found that chicken is the easiest on sensitive stomachs, barbecue is the worse. The toys themselves can also fit a meal of kibble (fireplug) or some super tasty treats to work for(treat ball).
Thanks for all the suggestions! Can i give those everlasting treat toys unsupervised? The bully sticks and other chews are the only things that keep him busy and quiet when he's in his ex pen. I leave him in there when I'm at work since I don't want him to be forced to pee in the crate (he escaped yesterday though, somehow got the gate open so I had to latch it better today lol).
He goes crazy when he's left alone (even if I just leave the room). But if he has a bully stick or a bison tendon chew he is completely silent and occupied! We have a renter in the basement (we warned her a couple months in advance that we are getting a puppy and made sure she was ok with it, she's familiar with dogs and puppies) so I hate to leave him in there crying and howling (really loud for a little guy...beagles). I need something that will occupy him for the first hour when I leave for work. It's early in the morning and the renter in the basement doesn't work. Hopefully he'll stop making so much noise when I leave soon, but it could take a few weeks.
