If I remember correctly they were just neoprene anyway. I don't think that is going to afford a whole lot in the protection department from a good dog.
I can't get the link to come up right now. If I can get it to come up I will post it. This is a full body bite suit. It also isn't very thick and is almost undetectable under normal street clothes. The trainer I work with uses it with the local P.D. dogs and it works well. The agitators come away with some nasty bruises from the dogs.
If I remember correctly Josh Lewis also has a hidden suit he sells.
If you are interested send me a P.M. or an e-mail and I can get you the information and an e-mail address.
If you can't be a Good Example, then You'll just have to Serve as a Horrible Warning. Catherine Aird.
Saw one used recently. Many, many dogs did not bite, and the few that did bite released fairly quickly. You would have thought the suit was made of metal. They were actually targeting the armpits and other less padded areas. I don't know how many of these dogs were trained with muzzle? maybe none?
Just about all of the major manufacturers of French and Belgian Ring along with the better KNPV suit makers produce what is called a deconditionment suit (hidden suit) Most of the European militaries K9 training procedure eventually get to the deconditionment suit.
These suits are not for the inexperienced decoy. You will be seriously hurt trying to proof a dog with one of these suits on. They weigh next to nothing and I mean nothing.
Something to keep in mind here about the real reason why a Military would want to use these suits.
In war you are out to Kill the Enemy.
In police work you are in an apprehension mode.
Go with Eds suggestion of the hidden sleeve and a damn good Basket Weave Muzzle.
I have one...it works really well, but you get some nasty pinches here and there. It fits VERY tight, so don't gain 5 pounds and not expect to feel it.
My came from Germany. As most of our patrol dogs are not arm sure if something else is onpen, it's much safer. Plus it allows to set up situations where the arm isn't there and the dog can still take a bite.
Ed is correct, you don't need one. A muzzle is much cheaper. If you don't mind spending the funds on a full suit,, they are alot of fun.
