OK, I am trying to explain to this guy I know that there is no comparison. For some reason he is bent without having any sort of direction with his reasoning.


He thinks a Mal is on the same level as a Rottweiler. In fact he thinks a Rottweiler is more capable. I explain, why are their more GSD and MAls than Rotties on the forces around the country. He says, they use them in Agility, police, guarding, herding, etc...

I explain that they still can't keep up with a Mal.

Could some of you guys explain or give some pointers here so I can print them out and bring it to him and he can read the differences between a Rottie and a Mal and that they are NOT equal in ability.

I explained that they are too big, to slow, and do horribly in the heat. But he insists that they are the same and if anything, the Mal is more inferior.

He says the Rottie can do anything a Mal can if not better....

Can some of you explain that there are differences and faults? I tell him the two dogs are like night and day.

He explains "I'd rather get attacked by a Mal than a Rottie anyday. Mals are weak. Look at how skinny he is compared to the strong and overpowering Rottweiler"

So, say what you want and then I'll print them out and bring them to him to read soon....

Ask him if he prefers a rotti or a Mali, I don't think he cares <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Further more, I have seen some well bred Rottis (use to have two myself) and they didn't have the nerves, defense, or intensity a malinois has. All the ones I have seen could be taken off the bite by the decoy, and far to many run off or flat out just bark and refuse to persue in a face attack. Your friend has obviously not seen a Real Malinois. I'm sure there are some capable Rottis out there, but as a whole when comparing the two, he is dead wrong! If I never seen anything pass a Honda civic I'd think it was the premier racing car also. Totally unaware of the Lambo's and austin Martins out there. Seriously, it sounds as though this guy has his mind made up about Rottweilers and nothing anyone says is going to change it. There are sooo many people out there like that- you can show them paperwork, video footage, and explain to them til you're blue in the face but they either cannot or (more likely) will not listen. And what ends up happening? YOU get angry. It's not worth it. If he refuses to view the facts then why bother? Save yourself the headache, IMO.

Thats' compairing a Hummer,(H2 or H3 model), with a Ferrari. The baby Hummer in this compairison has a bad valve to boot!

I'd hate to meet a big strong nerved Rotty with lots of fight drive in him in a dark ally... but first I have to get past that pretty unicorn.

ok what I did was sit here and he called me like usual.

I say " hey i posted something on how you behave"

I said the first few sentences and then he's like " i never said that!"

I exaplin, " Don't lie, you asked Chris, who you'd more like to be attacked by a rottie or a Mal"

Chris and he both said a Rottie would rip your arm off while a Mal would just bite on you and do nothing but puncture a few times.

Then I read more of what I put and he said " I NEVER SAID THAT!!1" I said sorry pal but you just 30 seconds ago explained that a Rottie bred in the 1900s is not the same as the useless ones bred in the 1980s.

I say " Hey dic head, we are not taslking about the sorriest dogs around. I posted this on some of the TOP TRAINERS in the world. They have more experience and know-how than either one of us can combine together."

I again said " You act as if, and like you told me 2 wks ago, that Rotties STILL perform as working dogs in Europe. You said in the 1900's? Well Do you think the best trainers in the world are buying the shithead of the 1980's? NO they are buying the BEST OF THE BEST. Which means they still performs on the 1900 level if not better. Not off looks but performance. "

He starts to act like a guy who forgot what he said but he still is insistant about his dogs father.

I drove him over there. He says I ran. But I ran when he left the gat eopen to 3 rotties. This guy that he bought his dog from has an apt with 3 Rotties. 2 ADULTS AND 1-1YR OLD.

When I took him over, all I saw was growling dogs jump9ing and barking.

I leaped to the next level of steps down of his apt on the second floor.

The owner came out. he tried in a calm manner to stop the dog from barking and showing his teeth. This went on for 35min. I stayed on the other side of the 4ft fence and he on the other.

I told my friend " That dog is unstable and not listening in any way shape or form listening from his owner or anyone."

He explains its from NOT knowing the dog. He explains to another on of our friends names Chris and Jordon. He says " Hey is Rocky mean? You just have to get to know him right?"

But no matter how hard I try, I tell him, "That dog is NOT stable nor is it trustworthy. B/c you KNOW Rocky form the time he was a pup does not make it a good dog. Your dog is sad all the time and that dog is angry EVEN THOUGH the owner tells it to stop."


I talked with him tonight and he changes the subject,m forgets what he says but STILL says " Rotties are still used in the military, protection, herding, bite work which is harder than a Mal Or Dutchie anyday b/c he is BIG!!!"

I got a little heated but am happy that I learned he is a person that you can't rationalize with. His mind is like a cinderblock wall. Its hollow but is hard.

Another guy he knew came to a BBQ of a common frined. The firend has a mini Schnauzer. A firend of him (and this guy with the rott) came over with his Pit BUlls. All acted serene. One of the guys brothers child was trhere. Appx 3yrs old.

That pit bull, among the others there was poked in the eyes walked and could care less. All they wanted was BBQ, bones, scraps, etc.... Not bony skinny etc. Healthy dogs.

BUT, this guy told me that wild growling nut case Rottie he bought his dogs from he says "My dogs parents would not do anything either."

I said" That damn ass aggressive dog is nuts. His onwer, you , his daughter, etc cannot control its growling. "

At this point he is still sane but his ego and his pride is beyond that of a blimp.

So I guess I can't win. All he can say is his dog is going to be trained by a person that only trains Rotties. I told him then that trainer would be broke. He say "NO, he'll train any but he has a Rottie that is beyond that of any other dog"

I just want to hang the phone up. You can't rationailze with people like that.

Now, our friend named Chris is saying the Doberman he has on hold from champ showlines is going to be badder than both a Mal and a Rottie...

Now, comared to the 3. How would a Rottie fare with a dobie as you have explained the Mal/Rottie routine.

Chris says "no working dog regardless if its a Mal, a Ropttie, a Dobie. will NEVER growl or test him. It'll just be obedient. I'd be more afraid of a Rott than a Mal by the way, by far. You have no idea what its about. It has NOTHING to do with the dog. NO dog is special. Its all about the heart."

I have had extensive experience with breeding with research animals and Dogs for yrs and yrs. I said that it does have ALOT TO DO WITH THE GENETICS. Its not as minute as they think. They both agree " It sall heart, Rots have more heart than a Mal or any other dogs. Etc Etc...."

I say to "make a PRO football player. it takes more than that. It take heart and genetics. ITS NATURE VS NURTURE. gENETICS AND ENVIRONMENT. The genetics part is size, strength, etc. Just b/c you enter the boxing ring against mike tyson doesn't mean your heart is going to save you....."

But still they BOTH don't get it. For one, its the Rottie his size and his ability, and for the other he says a Dobie, etc it has NOTHING to do with the dog. Its ALL the heart....


I say bullcrap.... And its making things difficult between us friends b/c they know I am right (Lydon) or they just don't know any better (Chris).....

That is why you guys are a blessing....

Maybe if you just tell them that their right and leave it at that. I am amazed these aren't pitbull owners. They sound a lot like them.
