Hello everyone, been a while since I've been on, but I felt I needed to share this story with you guys.
Will has been looking for "proof" of real life events, althogh I can't say this one is documented, it just happend to ME on Saturday night.
Saturday night, I was in my yard making a little fire around midnight. I have a fenced in yard, the fence is 5ft tall. Of course, anytime I'm out side "Kyro" My GSD is with me.
My nieghbors where having a little get together and everyone was drinking. A man came running from around my house at full speed, jumped on the hood of my car "to use as a step up" and proceeded to atempt to jump my fence. Naturally Kyro started barking, I said to the man "DO NOT COME OVER THE FENCE, MY DOG WILL KILL YOU", Yes, I actually said it that way. I wanted to be very clear on what would happen if he proceeded. Initially I thought it was one of my drunken neighbors, So I was a little pist about jumping on my car, but I wasn't gonna let Kyro do his thing. He stubled to get over the fence so I warned him again, "THE DOG WILL KILL YOU, DO NOT COME OVER", I realized very quickly, this was not the neighbor playing a game. Besides, they all know how my dog is and they don't tease him or mess with me for the most part. As soon as the jerks feet hit the ground I gave Kyro the go ahead. He hit the guy 3 good times, one wrist, one on the butt, and then finally holding onto his calf, bringing him to the ground. As soon as he hit the ground, I outted my dog and told the jerk not to move. He didn't. I paused to think what to do next, I yelled over to the nieghbors to call the police, as soon as I said police, he got up and turned towards me, again, I gave Kyro the go ahead, he took the guy down even faster this time, I did not call him off until I got on top of the guy with my knee his his back and my hand on his neck. I outted the dog again, as I did a cruise just happend to be driving down my block, I screamed bloody murder to get thier attention, the shined the beam on me and could see what was going on. I got up and told the jerk to start walking towards the police. He was looking around like he was gonna run, I said "if you run, I'm sending the dog". He said, You win, and walked towards the officers.
The officers gave me a choice of pressing charges or just letting things go. I said if there is any damage to my car, I'm definately pressing charges, the only thing damaged was the jerk. That was enough justice for me.
For Will; I'm not sure the officers even made a report, but if you need to verify the story, you could call Canton Police department, If you need the officers names, I know one of them personally.
For the rest of you, I have to say, you can train all you want, but when you are in a real life situation, it is entirely different. My dog is pretty tough, but I wasn't sure he was going to respond the way he did. Fourtuneately for me, the dog was on top of his game. I was VERY nervous and scared. It didn't seem to bother Kyro as much as it did me. My advice to you is; When you train, train like it is a REAL situation because when it is real, you better be ready. Luckily for me, I didn't have to do any of the fighting, Kyro did everything for me. I'm 6'1''210lbs, and this guy was bigger than me. I'm very proud of my dog and the people who have helped me get him to this point.
Meanwhile, My lab ran to the door and waited for everything to be over with before he showed his face. So for those of you who think "Well, I know when the time comes, he'll be ready", think again.
Good luck to everyone. Thanks for listening.
