Michael, this, in a nutshell, is why I would not leave my dogs in a doggy day care. (not just yours, anyone's) It's good for you and your dogs, because you are there every day at the day care with your dogs. This is good for you and your dogs. But I am not there with my dogs. And I don't want my dogs interacting with other dogs/people while I am not present.
If both me and my hubby had to be gone for an extended period of time, and the dogs were not able to come, too, I'd have a relative care-take at home, or there is a very good boarding kennel near me, run by a veterinarian and his wife. The dogs are kept seperate, they have inside kennels with accrss to outside runs, and they are walked individually every day. My dogs might get bored while being boarded, but they wouldn't be bonding to the vet and his wife or interacting with strange dogs, and they would be safe.
I expect that's what a lot of people on this site mean when they are telling you they don't like doggie day cares. I hope this sort of explains to you without causing more confusion.
Wanted to mention this: I feel this way about doggie daycares and I don't have PPD dogs, I have two rescues, both are pets only.

On your website it says that you offer classes in Personal Protection. Do you teach these classes yourself? If not, who teaches them?

If you don't mind, who are the other trainers you work with? And where? I am from Mass and have been looking for a good PP trainer.

Doggie Day Care:

For me, the biggest issues I have are TRUST, Aggression, Escape, Illness, Injuries, and Death.

Now, this may not happen at your place, but it DOES happen more often than not.

I have working dogs, and they all get along fine as they all know I am pack leader. If I were to give them and inch though, they would take a mile.

TRUST: We as handlers, train hard, have "rules" so to speak that must be followed when caring for our dogs. I have found that most people will bend those rules a bit....

Example: The last gal I had as kennel help decided that since two of my dogs sniffed through the fence and wagged their tails that I was WRONG when I told her NOT to put them together. So she took it upon herself to do this. Two bitches with attitudes, started fighting as soon as she opened the gate. No damage to the dogs, but she did get scratched up as she did not know how to handle something like this....needless to say she was terminated.

AGGRESSION: My dogs ignore other dogs. So, if they were to be placed in a situation like this, and another dog kept pestering them, they would only take it so far and then get really pissed and try to defend themselves. In a "pack" of dogs, this would probably cause multiple fights since it would stir most of the dogs up.

ESCAPE: Sometimes kennel help does not pay attention and things like this happen. It is tragic and heartbreaking, especially if the dog is killed by a car or never is found. No matter how hard we train our help, if they are not as serious and dedicated as we are, this happens.

ILLNESS: Lots of dogs in the same area....ya never know if records are falsified by the owners or what they are carrying in. If a dogs immune system is compromised, they are more susceptible to illness.

INJURY: Either mysterious, "Oh I don't know what happened to where he needed stitches" or "well he ran across the slick pavement when he got away from me and blew out his ACL".....
I have actually witnessed help being mean to or taunting dogs in other kennels. SO, TRUST comes back into play here.

DEATH: self explanatory....either by an illness that was contracted, escaping and being hit....or God forbid a collar left on and the dog gets hung up and chokes to death because the help was on break.

Now, with all of this said, this is NOT directed at any one person directly, but rather from the viewpoint of the fact that I trust very little people with my dogs.
Not even hubby or daughter is trusted fully and I know they follow ALL the rules.

What problem are you having with your aggitation work?

I missed this when typing my other post....I have a dog here that if someone were to step on her feet, they would undoubtedly get bitten.
It would also be a set back as well.....

The other thing is, I do not like others that are not trainers, to give my dogs commands and directions. My dogs usually flip those people the furry finger, therefore getting away with not obeying a command.

Janice ,to tell you the truth, alot of people have switched to boarding here, cause our boarding dogs are out all day with the daycare dogs. hows that for another bomb. and your right, before my sister and I started this business, i only kept my dog with her when i would travel, but our clients keep there dogs with us cause they trust us and see how we work, most of the boarding dogs are daycare dogs anyway.
