I would just LOVE it if someone would do that hand jab and "SSSSSTTTSS" with Erika... would be really entertaining
Please, PLEASE get that on video!
That would be interesting and how true.
Vince is a pretty focused guy. He’s gained a lot of confidence but he still does not hesitate. I’m afraid an assertive jab like that, from an unknown, would result in phalange rmb’s. Attempting the alpha role with Echo would be like wrestling a wheel barrow full of cement. He’d probably let you play for a bit then give you a bear hug that’d knock you on your butt. Those techniques work great for the cases we see on TV but I wouldn’t want any stranger near my boys thinking they could employ those moves and get out unscathed.
A case in point would the handling of a malamute called White Fang or something. I think they portrayed him as a wolf dog (which did not appear to be the case at all – it was quite obvious, very little, if any wolf in that dog). And he did finally submit but I’m sure the handling left a few scars.
Again, I have not seen this show and am always curious about the validity of these things. There are many wolf-like looking dogs that people get some kind of satisfaction out of portraying something that they truly are not.
True Hybrids are a pure wolf (generally taken from a wild pack for any number of reason – not an easy feat), and bred with a dog (generally a shepherd, malamute or husky) ending up with a 50% wolf. Those pups, bred to another pure wolf would generate a 75%, higher content hybrid. But what generally happens is they are bred to another wolf like looking malamute or shepherd, resulting in a low content, wolf dog. The term hybrid gets misused a lot. I guess it sounds scarier. But in order to be a true hybrid, it must start with a pure wolf being bred to a dog. These breedings don’t happen as often as some breeders like to lead the public to believe.
Generally what we have out there is a highly misinformed public, with large beautiful animals displaying unpredictable behavior (not unlike the malamute, the chow, Caucasians and gosh… even some shepherds I’ve known).
Wolves, hybrids and wolf dogs are three very different animals and are judged largely on their looks, rather than true genealogical make up. No different than a Staffordshire terrier bred to a Poodle. It will display Poodle traits but that’s not what people are going to focus on, even though the standard poodle is known to be one of the more aggressive guard dogs.
Okay, enough said, I could go on about this topic all day. This forum and from the sounds of it, Cesar’s show, has right set of standards and ethics when it comes to wolf dogs. Don’t patronize the breeders that are raking in the dough and promoting the suffering of these incredible wild creatures. The majority are playing to an ignorant public’s ego and passing off poorly bred shepherds and northern breeds as the magnificent wolf. And what gets me even more is that people fall for it, everyday.
