My bulk raw food supplier has wild boar on his list for food he sells. I would like to give it a try to see if the dogs will like it.
Is there any thing I should be aware of or reasons why not to feed this? Because it is wild, does it need to be kept frozen for a period of time? I just don't know anything about wild boar, so if anyone has any helpful info for me, I would appreciate it.

Wild boar and bear meats are (I've read) the ones at greatest risk of carrying Trichinella (which has been virtually eliminated in domestic pork, despite urban myth.)
Freezing and cooking are (again, from what I read) both ways to kill the larvae.
I have no experience at all with feeding boar meat. I wonder how different it is really from ordinary pork--nutrition-wise?
With a family full of hunters, I have fed most game meat to the dogs, freezing first. I didn’t use the bear, and the boar was cooked first, liver only. I would not feed it raw, but I have heard that some “RAFers”{people that eat RAW diets} eat it..blah!
When we lived in Europe people got hepatitis E, and Trichinosis from feral pig, wasn’t that uncommon to have undercooked pork, so I was raised to avoid it.
I don’t know how accurate this nutritional chart is for the wild boar, but if you type pig, or domestic pig, you can compare.

I was iffy about feeding it, and I still feel that way.
I think I will just stick to human grade, grocery store pork.
Interesting article about wild boar in germany. They are becoming radioactive.Their taste for wild mushrooms have caused boars to accumulate high levels of radioactive cesium 137. The source of the radiation was from the chernobyl disaster. The german government is paying hunters to discard the meat from the wild boars if it tests unsafe to eat.
