Thats Toronto for ya.
I wouldn't live there if you paid me to!
I've turned down positions offered to me by our Toronto Office because there's no way in hell I would live there.
No offense Jenn.
Actually you said you live in the suburbs....are you on the outskirts?
I had an old boyfriend that lived out there and I absolutely hated going to see him becuase Toronto is just not driver or pedestrian friendly. I don't know how many times we would be walking in the Beaches and people would come flying around corner's like they were doing the indy 500, not even looking. I mean we would even be half way through the intersection and they would pull up through the intersection thinking they could make the turn before we would be in there path. We had a few altercations with people (not something I condone, but like you, once my back is up there's not much I can do to stop myself).
Im glad you're ok...too bad you didn't get his license plate. You could've still called it into the police
(I apologize if you've already mentioned the license plate thing...I haven't read the whole thread yet)
edit: and please don't feel bad for going off on the guy. You didn't over re-act at all as far as Im concerned. Im sorry, but that guy wasn't paying attention at all. We have the same problem in Hamilton with one way streets. People only check the way the traffic is coming not even bothering to look the other way to make sure there isn't a pedestrian crossing at the intersection they're stopped at. I've had it happen a few times to me.
And sorry, but to say the guy made a mistake and should be given the benefit of the doubt just doesn't fly with me. Cause if things had turned out another way and Jenn was injured or possibly killed I don't think anyone would be sitting here saying "give the guy a break, he just made a mistake".
no love for toronto! ouch! ....well, i'm not really feeling the love for the drivers here at the moment....
i do live in the city, next to a subway station, but i'm in the northern part of the city, so it's like suburbs. but still in toronto proper.
i do agree - the potential consequences of what could've happened to me are enough i just can't feel bad about losing it and getting angry.
....it's funny you say that about hamilton - we were out on sunday hiking/taking pictures around the hermitage on the bruce trail and the dundas conservation area trails, and on our way there, i thought, get off the 403 at main and we could go across - of course, main is one way the other direction....we were muttering about hamilton and it's one way streets (plus, growing up in toronto, it's ingrained in you that the lake is always south....it's all flipped upside down in hamilton ).

yeah, sorry you'll get no compliments about Toronto from me...lol
like I said, no offense to you personally!
Yes the one way streets are hard to navigate if you aren't used to them. It was even worse when they decided to CHANGE some of the one way streets (that have been that way for IONS)to two way streets! Oh the accidents then I tell ya!
I live about 20 minutes from where you were. Actually the trail I hike (i say hike in a totally different way that you hike...lol)with Tucker eventually leads and connects to the Bruce Trail/Dundas Trail. It goes on forever...I love it.
And it's only 2 minutes from my place.
Edit: next time take the main exit. Take main to Dundurn (first immediate street on your left once you exit so just stay in the left lane (taco bell on the left side)Dundurn will take you right to King st. Turn left onto King and that takes you to Dundas!
changing the streets would be bad! i like hamilton, it's got all the waterfalls to hike around, and around the bay, which is the funnest race, though i think i'm missing it this year b/c of training. boo.
that would be such a pretty place to live though! you're lucky to live so close to trails!
good to know - we turned onto queen off of main, and then to aberdeen and back onto the 403. then onto the parkway, where we went off the wrong way (the map showed mohawk and the exit sign said rousseaux, i guess b/c it's mohawk there for a few 100M, but we didn't know that, so we went to the other mohawk, fooled around and got back onto rousseaux, and to wilson and sulphur springs road from there. i have a race in the conservation area in may (the sulphur springs trail race), and i'm going to be doing a lot of training there, also so i can practice getting there without getting lost!
