My wife and I recently purchased an e-collar and 2 of the Leerburg e-collar training videos.
We have gotten our 16 month old GSD used to wearing the e-collar and we are ready to start the conditioning process. My wife met someone who told her that we should avoid e-collar training during a heat cycle, due to the fact that going through heat is tough enough for the dog. Our little girl had her first heat at about 11 months and another could be starting any day now.
I wanted to get the opinion of those who have more experience with this training tool. Should we avoid using the e-collar during her heat?
Not necessarily about the e-collar because I don't use them but every female is different when they come in heat. Some don't change at all. Some get really aggressive. Some get really goofy. Some mellow out. Some are more prone to stress.
Regardless of training methods you need to understand your own dog's temperament changes, if any.
