I have been looking at several different ecollars, and I have utilised the comparison chart feature; however, I am still undecided. The one thing I am certain of is that I want an Educator brand ecollar, but I cannot determine which of the following models would be ideal: ET400, K9400, ETPRO, or EZ900.
I have never before used an ecollar, so I do not yet know how it will best fit into my training routine. (I have around a dozen Leerburg videos, mostly featuring Michael Ellis, and I feel I am ready to start incorporating ecollars in order to fine tune my dogs' off-leash work.)
I currently have three dogs that I work in obedience and driving (I also hope to get into Modio at some point, too), and the driving training is the only time I can foresee possibly needing a multiple dog model, but I don't know that the ecollar would necessarily be most effective for driving training. I like that the K9400 includes the bungee collar, but I don't think that I necessarily need the bungee collar. I like the handy level adjustment dials on the ETPRO and EZ900, but maybe I won't need the adjustment dial so conveniently placed if my dogs consistently respond to a set low level stimulation. I don't yet know if I would incorporate a tone whilst using an ecollar, but only the ETPRO and EZ900 offer it. I think the computer interface for the ETPRO is really slick, but I don't know that I will need all those snazzy options. I guess I am worried about limiting myself prematurely, so can anyone help me choose a good starter model?
I will also be purchasing Michael Ellis' ecollar videos; would I still want to purchase the Leerburg ecollar video, or do Michael's videos cover it all? Thanks.

I'm sure others here will add more experienced advice, but meantime I'll just say that I like the Educator ET300 for my "plain pet" Doberman -- And as for an e-collar training DVD, I really prefer Ed Frawley's teaching technique for newbies over that of Michael Ellis (nothing at all against ME, just a personal "learning style" preference)...
Really? I was totally put off by the word 'mini' that I didn't even look at the ET300. My dogs are large; two are 100-lbs, the other is 70-lbs. I just assumed the 'mini' model wouldn't be sufficient. I'll take a look at it now.
Hi Tiffany, I actually just bought a "Mini" Educator ET300. It definitely is not very mini. It fits well on my GSD (95 lbs) and on my pittie mix (60 lbs). I cannot even close my hand all the way over the receiver. The transmitter is about the size of my palm and seems to be pretty comfortable to handle since the buttons are on the top, right where my thumb, index and middle fingers are resting on them. I don't know much about Educators other collars, but I would definitely add this one to your considerations. The features on it are pretty cool, and it does have a mode with a tone first followed by stim, as well as their boost mode and all that.
