OK...I'm in the mountains on some R&R and I am enjoying satellite TV which I don't usually watch. I run across an infomercial on dog training and it turns out this guy name Don Sullivan has dog training CDs for sale. He is the so-called "Dogfather" of dog training (among other animals)and boasts unbelievable results.
All of his pundits say that their formally out of control dogs have been fixed in 5 minutes or so. Sullivan sells a "System" which includes a "Command Collar" and three cheesy leads. The collar is made of plastic with links that can be added or taken off much like a prong,, and each link has a raised area.
The collar is supposed to mimic a mother's bite (correction)whenever the dog does something wrong (much like Ceasar's move) and is apparently all powerfull.
One thing Sullivan does do is talk about pack structure which I am guessing is the real truth behind his training secret. Has anyone seen his CD's? Just because I've not heard of him doesn't mean he's not been around a while. Apparently Sullivan was a dolphin and whale trainer in the past.

Hmm... prong collar on a whale... interesting idea. Yes I've caught the same commercial and it seemed a bit too hokey for me to buy into. For every 5 minute fix (who knew dogs came with an easy button.)I'll show you a dog who was over corrected and didn't learn what they should be doing instead.

Not a situation where you'd want it coming up the leash...
I took a look at his FAQ and apparently there is nothing the Dogfather and his "System" can't do. He's a Master Trainer, after all....just doesn't say where he earned that title. Two photos of him kissing marine animals does not a trainer make. :smirk:
Treats are bad in Don's world. So is rollerblading...a not-so-subtle jab at CM.

Read his "myths" page.
One of my favorites, about training with food:
In a dog’s world, the dog that relinquishes his food to another is always the submissive one. By giving your dog food from your hand you are teaching him that you are his subordinate! from http://www.dogfather.tv/aboutdon.php
