Safety
No toy is 100% indestructible. It is unrealistic to expect that from any toy. The toys that we sell at Leerburg are the best quality and most durable that we have found. Always supervise your dog when playing with toys. Periodically inspect all toys for damage. Do not allow your dog to continue to play with a damaged or broken toy.

Write a ReviewOur dog has a strong bite and also loves to tear things up. We first got the green circle shape because I wanted something flexible and the GoughNut website said the circle was longer lasting than the stick. Our dog rarely played with the GoughNut circle. We then ordered two green sticks. My dog loved them. I liked that they were long enough where he could interact with me and I didn't fear an accidental bite. They are hefty and feel like a flashlight in your hand. The downside is that the saliva makes the toy really slippery if you grab a wet end. We wash the toys in dish soap every morning when we do the dog bowls so there is not a buildup of bacteria.
The GoughNut website suggests for dogs that like to tear things up to put a stick GoughNut through the hole in the circle GoughNut, using coconut oil or cooking oil to lube the toys. We put the circle on the stick about 1/3 of the way down and they went together very easily. My dog doesn't try to take it apart but it does present a different weight and he plays with it a lot. One good thing about this setup is you can hold the shorter end so you know which end is dry and the circle GoughNut provides an extra layer of hand protection when the dog really gets excited and grabby.
The green sticks lasted one month. I called the GoughNut company in California and it was an easy exchange. They suggested we try the black stick one level up from the green but not the MaXX50. I didn't know how flexible it would be so I got 2 free green stick replacements and bought 1 black stick. The black stick is as flexible as the green stick. The one downside was that the black stick had a strong "tire" odor and it took 2 weeks before the smell went away, even with washing it.
Wanted to share with you that I found these toys over a year ago as I was looking for a solid toy for my power chewer. I have a Doberman that can rip apart the black kongs and any toy on the market. I had been searching for a toy for my dog through local pet stores and on line. Thankfully, I found the goughnut toy at a dog show by a vendor and have been thrilled with it. Did take him about 6 months to chew enough off the end of the stick to get to the red core. They replaced the toy and so far it is in good shape. The doughnut shaped toys do not seem as popular with my dog or canine guests but I have all 3 shapes as I have dogs of all sizes that stay with me on occasion. Many dogs do not take the to toy immediately or at all and there is an odor from the toy in the beginning but that odor does dissipate with time. At this time I am a big fan of this toy for power chewers.
Warm Regards,
Diane
