Overall it is well made. It seems it will last.
The issue I have with it is that the thumb release is a bit cumbersome and jams a bit. Locking the lead is easy with the thumb; however, releasing the locked leash will not work if there is any tension on the leash. With a dog on the other end, there is always at least a little tension. I move my hands towards the dog quickly to remove tension and it unlocks most of the time. Sometimes, I need to use the other hand to push the leash into the cartridge to get it to unlock.
It is not a problem I cannot live with, but it is a bit annoying and will probably become a larger problem as my puppy grows.
