This course details all the fundamentals of Michael's approach to obedience and relationship building. He teaches how to build the “toolbox” you will use throughout the training process. Learn classical and operant conditioning, reward-based teaching systems, and the use of verbal markers for communication. Explore the concepts of building behavior through luring, spatial pressure, leash pressure, and shaping. You will also be given a thoughtful introduction to aversives and the creation of motivation in your dog through productive play. Additionally, you will develop the foundation for focused heeling and reliable recall.

Principles of Dog Training 2

In this course students will learn how to take the skills learned in the first course and apply them to more advanced behaviors and situations. Students will learn how to chain exercises together in order to develop more advanced obedience behaviors. We will start by adding in the last 3 position changes that were not covered in the first course. From there you will learn how to achieve focused heeling with your dog, a formal retrieve, the jumps, advanced recall work, finishing work, and finally loose walking.
