My 4 month old puppy has no bite inhibition, should I use a prong collar for correction?

Cindy Cindy's Answer:
We don't use prong collars for correcting normal puppy behaviors. At 4 months old he's simply doing what puppies do as he learns about being in the world with us. We use management and redirect pups to another activity like chasing a treat we roll on the floor, a toy or if that doesn't work we pick them up and put them in their crate or expen. We also don't let puppies run around loose without a harness or collar and lightweight leash so we can restrict where they go and can stop them by using the leash to prevent their access to places or activities we don't want them to do. At 7 lbs this should not be too difficult.

I'd suggest watching Your Puppy 8 weeks to 12 months to see how we raise puppies in our home and to manage them so these behaviors are not allowed in a way that is fair to the puppy and doesn't destroy the relationship we want to build with our dogs.

We also offer an almost 7 hour video on Raising Your Puppy, I've linked both of these streaming videos below.
