We finally got some rain down here in Texas. I was thinking of talking my 10 month old GSD puppy swimming as he loves and we haven't been for several months with no fresh water in the lakes. It is 60 degrees out now and lightly raining. I know the water is to cold for me but would it be ok for him? I like the low impact excercise swimming gives him ( he had Pano at a younger age that he seems to have outgrown)If we go out and train today, which we will, he will get wet and nasty anyway so that part doesn't concern me. Is it to risky as I don't want a sick puppy!!
Thanks in advance
Mitch, it's not nice to talk about warm weather this time of year <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> it was 8 degrees this morning when i took the dogs out, but it's gonna get up into the 20's this afternoon, lol. Everyone knows gsd's are the best and most durable breed out there, let'em swim, Hmmm.... i think i'll take elvis ice skating today <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />, AL
Yeah Mitch, how rude of you, I'm suffering here in 55 degree weather! I had to cancel my trip to the beach because nobody else wanted to go! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
I tend to believe that if my dog doesn't wanna do something he'll let me know, if the water's too cold for him, he'll tell me "hey it's too cold" n refuse to go in... but I took him to the lake in about 60 degree weather last year and he had a blast splashing around the cold water, I don't think GSD's care all that much.
I agree with Al, Texas weather sounds pretty good right about now... its about -5 degrees F here (Canada) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
BTW: Our guys swim till the pond freezes.... then we're onto skating <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />
Hey Mike, maybe if you buy your dog one of those goofy looking coats, he'll go to the beach with you <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />, AL
Well decided not to go and started a fire outside as we needed to burn some trees I dropped this year and left alone due to snakes. This is more fun for me but the dogs still get some work
