Brennan Reese Webboard User Reg: 02-02-2004 Posts: 158 Loc: Greensboro, NC Offline	My little 6 week old guy Hondo died tonight after a rough and week long bout with campylobactor which caused him to suffer from severe anemia and dehydration that myself and my vet just couldn't help him overcome. I asked my 2 younger brothers (12 and 13) if they wanted to say goodbye to him. The 12 yo said "Hondo I'm gonna miss you and I love you, you were my favorite puppy." The 13 yo said "Hondo I love you and I know you would have made a great police dog." We then sat there and cried together. I think more than anything it hurts my feelings that I've been a vet tech for almost 8 years and have treated and saved dozens and dozens of dogs that have had that bacteria and yet I lose one of mine. As he got weaker I promised him that I wouldn't let anything happen to him and I failed. I knew when he was 3 weeks old that he was the male I was keeping. It was something about him that I really liked. I'm sad I won't get to see him grow into that dynamite dog. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> Brennan Reese

He knew from your voice what the promise meant: It meant you would do your best, that he was loved, and that he wasn't in it alone. You kept those promises. You didn't fail him.
