I have read and heard many times that two dogs can have problems living together.
I have always owned two dogs. And never had problems.
Why?
Maybe my dogs sense that i am the packleader.
But,my theory is,that i have been lucky in finding dogs that really match eachother.
At date i own two dogs.
One amstaff male, castrated at 7 months old,he is today nearly 4 years old.
The other dog is a female boerboel, spayed.Nearly 6 years old.
I have never had a fight between them. The boerboel is the boss, but she does not act like one.She does not guard toys or food. She never growled at the amstaff.
She is leader only because she is a girl and she is the oldest. The amstaff sensed this rightaway, and never ever tried to challange her.
I have had a female amstaff and a female boerboel,(not spayed) together, never had any fights there either.
But i would not keep two dogs of the same sex together anymore.I was abit unwise, but lucky that the girls liked eachother.
i would never own more than two dogs.Chances of fights is greater, and also,i would not have the time to care for each dogs needs.
Ed's comment - yes you have been lucky but then you also probably practise good pack behavior with your dogs.
