sorry if this is too long......
so im kind of new here and a little back ground... i am an american army wife living in germany going to a german dog club learning how to train schutzhund.. i do not have any formal schooling in the german language but i have taught myself to speak and understand the language from living here in germany for the last 5 years.... most of my dog training learning is by observation.. i do get to ask some very simple questions and i do get answers.but it is sometimes very hard to understand the why when it is being told to you in german.. anyway we just passed our first BH quite nicely.. so i have been starting my dog now on the schH 1 ob work.... my gsd is honestly a little flighty.. and bring is her worst subject.. but that is getting better with practice.... but that is still not the problem... i taught her the stand (by accident to be honest)... she actually does the stand quite nicely and she is even up to the schH 3 stand where i can jog and give the command from a jog and she will do it..... but i found out last night that the stand is not until schH 2..... i have practiced this infront of the master trainer he said nothing to me about not needing it yet (he has been coaching me with her and her stand the reason why i thought i needed it for the next phase)... i know i need the voraus (send out) and 1 reviere (blind search) also the barbell retrieve, over the wall retrieve and a-frame (of which my dogs needs to get stronger with the bring for all of this) should i keep working the stand with her or stop practicing it all together for right now?
during our last competetion another member was doing the schH 1 ob and her dog stood for the sit in motion (she too has been working the stand which is why i thought i needed it for the schH 1) so to combat the other members mistake i have been making sure that my gsd clearly understands the difference between the sit and stand.. my routine is.... i do a sit while in motion, then ask for a stand in motion.. then do 1 more sit while in motion then the down.... so can i keep going in this direction and now also start teaching the send out ? here i was sssooo proud of us (myself and my dog) only to realize i was mistaken...
The stand is the first out of motion exercise I trained my dog. And he does the sit and down just fine in competition. It's all about repetition and making sure the dog understands what each command means.

Ditto on training the stand first. I taught the sit and down first. Now the stand seems somewhat confusing to the dog. If you train for a III, the I and II will just happen along the way....I hope!

aaahh o.k cool... that would explain why the master trainer has not said to stop working the stand with her.... when i saw the other members dog do the stand for the schH1 unterordungs (obdience phase) i could not believe the dog stood for the sit in motion.... and a few times at the beggining hella did the same.. so that is why i really wanted to make sure she (my gsd) clearly understood the difference between the sit and stand.. i can see very easily how the dog could get confussed as the dog will hear the s of the command and antisipate what is comming and not wait for the whole command to be said....
i wanted to also add a few german words that are not on any list for commands i have read......
holen...... pick up (used for any object)
holen dein spielzug (pick up your toy)
traagen... carry
gehts auf der fooseweg (get on the side walk)
or i say.... gehts aufen weg (get on the path or way)
