Hiyas,
Been looking at getting a shepherd puppy....been along time since i had one and been checking around at different sites to try and get an idea whats out there. Looking for one for protection mostly. I like the czech ones and living in the phoenix area saw one about 6 months old on alpinek9 from Kal-tee and Itar. Both look like really good dogs with good genetics. I haven't gone out to see it yet, but wanted to see if anyone had an opinon on this breeding.
Not sure I posted this in the right spot...been reading through these forums and theres a ton of information here, but hopefully this spot will work.

Do a forum search for Alpine K9. IIRC, word over here is that Alpine is less than stellar. I won't say more, I don't want to give out wrong information, but a forum search should yield plenty.

John,
Keep in mind that when you ask a question about a certain dog or breeder, you will always get at least two different opinions. Some people will really like a breeder/kennel and the next guy might have some harsh words to say about them. Keep doing your homework. Sit back for a while and listen and learn. If you have been out of dogs for a while, don't rush into one. The search function on this site is a good place to start. If you are interested in the Czech lines, scroll down from the main menu and look in the Czech and other working dog links to get some good information. Keep looking on line and contact the breeder for additional questions about their experiences and dogs. Ask for references also. I hope this helps and welcome to a great K-9 site!!

Here, Here!!!
I fully agree with Curtis. It took me two years to find the pup I wanted. Ask questions, talk with owners and breeders, keep an open mind and an open eye. Good Luck!
Nice Post Curtis... stars for you!

Hey John,
Many of the dogs advertised at Alpine K9 are avail. directly from Czech Republic through Jinopo. You may opt to contact them to see what else is available too, rather than go through a middle person.
Good luck in your search!

Hi John, I'll tell you what, i met 2 leerburg dogs(owner Anne Jones) and they were really cool dogs. If i was in the market for a dog (i'm not, mine are young and fun) it would be a leerburg dog, one stop shopping at it's best , or look at Molly Grafs site, she posted a picture not to long ago of her dog, who looked awesome,(i don't know Ed or Molly btw) i guess my point is you can find a great dog right off this site, if people i talk to and hope to learn from don't pass the leerburg litmus test( the general philosophy on dog ownership and training ) i take what they say with a grain of salt, good luck,

Hey Al, thanks for the compliment on my dogs....I think that they are great, too! BTW...Elvis is quite the little gem, also. I know that he keeps you very busy!!!! After all, what else would a Fetz son be like.
John, I spent almost 2 years researching working line GSDs before I made the choice to get a Leerburg pup. I feel that I made the right decision.(for me) My female ( a just 2 yr old Leerburg Otis granddaughter) is more than I could have ever have hoped for & then some. She has almost extreme drives, is tough as nails & is incredible to work. What a handful. She is capable of just about anything that you would want to do with a working line dog. I am working her in SchH, PP & considering doing some detection work with her, also. My male, (a just 3 yr old) although not bred at Leerburg, was there with them as a stud for about 10 months. He is an awsome dog. He is a delight to work & has a wonderful work ethic & has strong drives & loves to please. He will make a great competion dog & we are working toward that goal. In my estimation... you could do tons & tons worse than to choose a Leerburg dog. I believe that Ed breeds some of the best dogs out there. I have a LEO friend that competes in SchH with his dobermans & he was the one that told me that I could never go wrong with a Leerburg pup, when I told him I had made the decision to get one of Ed's pups. Even the none GSD people have great respect for the dogs that Leerburg breeds!Good luck in your search for a pup. Just my 2cts worth.

My bad... I searched too, and all I found was another inquiry on the kennel that was then taken to PMs by Will Rambeau. Maybe asking him would get you another viewpoint!
