I am not sure how long this has been going on, but the fact that there is snow on the ground makes it more obvious to see. I first noticed it when I went to Petco and took Marsha for a pee and on the dog walk. The snow was marked by many dogs… when she peed I immediately noticed her pee looked green compared to all the other markings.
It got my attention. Later that day when I took her out I check it again and compared it to my other dog’s markings and it was still green… while his was yellow.
I have been watching her over the last few days and it seems greener like first thing in the morning or after she has held it for several hours. Unfortunately this all came to light on Saturday. I called my vet and he was closed until Tuesday due to the holiday so I called the hospital and I described her green urine. They told that unless she gets worse and starts showing other symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, etc… I should wait and follow up with my regular vet after the holiday.
I have been researching Google and have only found one illness that lists green urine as a symptom http://www.vetinfo4dogs.com/dhypocalcemia.html
I am just worried that this has been going on for a long time and the fact that there is now snow on the ground has aware made it obvious. She arrived here in August from Germany with a nasty urinary/vaginal infection. I just hope it went away and didn’t travel to some other organ like her kidneys or her liver.
The only other possible symptom, which may not be related at is she is a very picky eater. She doesn’t eat much at all.
If anyone has any info to share that would be great. My vet doesn’t open until tomorrow and of course I am worried.
I hope everyone had a great safe and joyous holiday.

Do you have an emergency vet in your area? We have one in Orlando that's open 24 hours a day 365 days a year. If you have one, give them a call and see what they say about it - be warned, emergency vet care is double, sometimes triple the price of your regular vet, but calling them for an opinion is free, a good vet will be honest and tell you if it's something you should bring the dog in for immediately or if it can wait till morning, the one near me realizes they are expensive and do try to give people honest advice about wether they should spend the money to have the dog looked at immediately. My regular vet actually has the phone number and address for the emergency vet on their answer machine during closed hours, so check if your vet did the same.

Hi Mike,
I called the hospital and I described her green urine. They told that unless she gets worse and starts showing other symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, etc… I should wait and follow up with my regular vet after the holiday.
She isn't showing any other symptoms and for all I know this could be something that has been going on since she arrived and I am just now seeing it since there is snow on the ground. The expense is of no concern to me. I would bring her in a second but they thought I should wait unless she got worse.

Does she have a dishcharge if you check around her vulva?
Is she spayed or intact? when was she last in season, if she isn't spayed?
I always worry about pyometra, with intact females.

Cindy,
I just looked at her vulva and see no discharge. She is an intact female. Her last heat was the first week in August at which time she also had a vaginal infection.
I am researching pyometra right now.

Hello,
I would suggest taking your dog to the vet right away. I must say, I have read some of your posts, and your blog, and it seems like you were sold a lemon, or should I say a lime. First, the whip issue, then the allergies, and now this. I would suggest trying either get your money back on this female, or spaying her, and taking the loss. There are some very reputable GSD breeders on this board, and they could sell you a nice dog or pup, for a lot less than you paid for that female. This is really too much. Is this for real?

Howard Burgess
How dare you suggest I got a lemon or a lime? Regardless of the allergic reaction she got or illnesses she has had………….. This is my dog and I love her will all my heart. I love her for her loyalty to me and her love for my children and the fact that she is the most OB dog in this area. I would pay 10 times the price I paid for her. You don’t know her or me… so keep your selfish comments to yourself. I didn’t buy her to breed or even work in schutzhund. I bought her to be a family member and as such I take her health very seriously. I got drawn into the sport by falling in love with her and wanting to know more about her.
How dare you be so rude. Unless you have some useful information to share regarding the topic of the post... you have no business posting your unwelcome comments. She is a member of my family and I wouldnt' trade her for all the money in the world.

Bio I belong to OG Schutzhund club, NAPBTC, WAPBTCA, and Midwest WeightPullers. I enjoy titling dogs in Conformation, obedience, weightpull, and Schutzhund. I have owned APBTs for 21 years,
Your probably a "Chris the Jackass Fraize" fan. Bias has no place when the health of a dog is concerned. Save it for PM
