Bliskan now my 11 month old puppy (GSD) urinates alot around my wife and my son in law. Not in fear or submisavely( spelling ) He is a vey sound nerved dog. He doesn't do it with anyone else. Never with me. He is with me alot and we are away from home alot so I know he is just very happy around my wife. Don't understand the son in law thing . I have some plans we are going to try but would like to hear any sugestions. Thanks in advance for any help
Normal. Working dogs tend to pee around people for some reason when they are young. Do a search in this forum, you'll find this has been asked many times, including once by myself when I had the same problem with my Mal pup.
The best explanation that I've read is that they do this as a survival mechanism. Working lines are inherently more intelligent and stronger, and more determined to make it to adulthood. A dog that is too young to fight would be foolish to do so, so they submit until they are strong enough to take down their challengers. Darwinism at it's best.
Hello,
I am new one here. I hope I am posting in the right place.
We have sort of the same problem with our dog, but she is 2.5 years old and she is a house pet, not a working dog. We got her from rescue, and she did really well, untill just recently. She does well all night long and during the day time when she is in the crate.
It does not seem like a submissive thing, or exitement. She will just sit there and pee right in front of you without any warning looking right at you, and then jump away expecting the correction. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> We are considering the possibility of infection, but the fact that she can go for 8 hours without a pee break is confusing. We are not sure how to handle it. Any suggestions?
Thank you.
