hey guys I work with a trainer in Long Island. right next to the coliseum his name is james 718 809 9759. he has an indoor training area. and he and his family have trained dogs for 30 years. the facility is C & G canine. tell James Chris sent you. I work my 3 yo GSD and am doing Ob with my 4 month old pup who will be doing PP
If he proves aggressive, he can then be put in the Basic Watch-Dog Training program for your home, business, apartment, etc. Your dog will show aggression on command; protect members of the family, house, car, etc.; and will be taught to snarl and appear vicious. This training takes 3 to 4 weeks.
This doesn`t sound like what he`s looking for. There`s a huge difference between a vicous watch dog and a controllable personal protection dog. I`d be careful about any facility that offers protection training to dogs that have only passed a 2-4week basic onleash OB program that takes place in their kennels completely without any owner involvement anyway.
One of my neighbors have 3 gsd...I beleive they took him here and I still don't see the dogs not walking properly on leash after 6 months....
There is this one guy IN Bayside Queens who has many fans. People may think he is a great trainer....but the way he trains your dog is full of shit....can't remember his name.
I would be extremely careful here, anybody that advertizes that they will do any type of protection training at 10 months of age, then say "if dog shows aggression" and then state they will have your dog trained in 2-4 weeks would raise doubt in my eyes. If you are still interested in using these people I would strongly advise you to request names of previous people whose dogs they have trained (in protection work)and then go see these dogs in action!
Hi Guys. I am going to agree with your comments about the website. The fact of the matter is the majority of people want a finished product and want nothing to do with training. they want to handover cash and want a trained dog. When I talked to them about training they told me they would take my dog. I said no. They do let owners handle and train with their dogs. They were suprised I wanted to put the work in. I continue to train with them.
With that said. I believe the web site is poorly worded and geared toward the lay person who has done no research. I own most Leerburg training videos and most of the books Ed recommends.
