Anna Ireland Webboard User Reg: 05-01-2002 Posts: 36 Loc: Offline	I've wormed my litter about 4 days ago and they delivered round worms (much to my surprise). I wormed the mother and she had a few. But her stools have been like puddin' for some time and I'd put that down to the richer diet. The last two days, I noticed a small amount of some jelly like blood twice. I'm not sure what that may indicate as she seems really healthy. Should I get her tested for coccidiosis as it's really humid and buggy here? Should I take the pups away from her so they don't get it or get worms from her again? They are almost fully weaned anyway. My vet is 30 miles away so I don't want to take them all there needlessly, thought someone here may have some ideas for me to try first.

John Michaelides Webboard User Reg: 10-11-2001 Posts: 50 Loc: Offline	Hi Ami, You'll have to worm the pups again, i think two weeks after the previous worming. The instructions on the worming bottle should tell you this, for roundworm eggs may still be in the pup's after you kill off the adult's.

Lynn Cheffins Webboard User Reg: 04-17-2002 Posts: 617 Loc: Offline	Hi - if you wormed your pups with Strongid-T,Nemex or another pyrantel pamoate wormer it will only get round and hookworms. If the bitch was wormed with the same wormer and is showing blood in her stool she might need worming with a more broad spectrum wormer to get other types of parasites.
