X Meise vom Elfenscholb--
thoughts on this breeding:
Ringo auf Kozies (above are his sire/dam) x Alice vom Kozies
(Corsully vom Leerburg x Blanka vom Haus Gidcumb).
thoughts? input? this guy wants a big $$ for pups out of untitled parents, and i'm wondering if it's worth it...BTW, i'm looking for a ringsport type dog--i will be training toward that end (i love the ASR rules!!!!)
thanks in advance for the input!

How much is big $$ and if you think about the type of person that is going to charge big bucks for pups out of totally untitled parents........well I just don't see the point.
I guess it is my natural inclination to want to put that type of breeder completely out of business.
Have you thought about a Mal, or a Dutchie??
I am smarter than my dog, your just not. |

Has the breeder even done ringsport to understand what is needed in a dog?

Usus-are you talking about Al Gill's dog? He is the sire of the sire who you're considering a pup out of, or did I read that wrong? How much?

Read that too fast. Sorry. Gill's dog is Usus von den Schwendenschanzen, not Schwenden Lanzen.

jenni--it IS usus von den schwendenschanzen-my mistake. and yes, he would be the grandsire of the pup in question, the sire of the sire.
the dam is linebred 3-5 Gilda Vom Korelbach
4-5 Usma Vom Bungalow
4-5 Quitte Von Karthago
i'm thinking the bloodlines may be ok (and that's where i'm counting on you guys' opinions/experience), but he wants $850 for these pups (to me that's a big investment), and i know i can buy a pup for that with closer titled relatives. or am i crazy?
thanks in advance for the guidance/feedback!

Hate to break it to you, but $850 isn't a lot of money for a working dog, provided the dog is as represented. Titles aren't everything, although Usus has them. If I'm not mistaken-don't quote me on this-there may be more working police dogs in those lines than titled dogs. I'm only saying this because that seems to be the direction Al Gill goes with many of his, and this is where the pups end up. Depending on what you want, this is not necessarily a bad thing. I know they're a lot of money, but look around and do your own comparison. The "average" range, if I dare say, seems to hover around 1000-2000, and some want more. I'm not saying I would or wouldn't pay that for this particular breeding. I don't know those other dogs, but did consult Al Gill about Usus a few years back. A lot of his are police dogs, not sport dogs. I really can't tell you any more than just look around for yourself and compare prices/titles/etc. You'll figure out what's reasonable.

Just looked up these dogs, and it seems like they bought some nice dogs, but haven't done much with them. Ringo is only 16 mos old??? That would explain why he doesn't have 10 titles, but it doesn't appear that any of their dogs do. I would have to just guess that the Leerburg dog is decent, and Usus is titled, and I've heard some good things about Von Kuhnhof dogs, but what is their reasoning for not titling their dogs? Did you ask? Like I said, titles aren't everything, but you do have to wonder what they're basing value on if they don't even work their dogs. I didn't look all over the site-I just pulled those dogs' names and noticed the lack of titles, and the seemingly aesthetically-based summaries of the dogs.

i'm not saying that the $$ are unreasonable overall, i'm just wondering if the breeding is worth the $$--am i clear as mud? and, to some people, $850 isn't much, but it is to me. i don't have a problem spending it as long as it's potentially a good investment, but i'm new enough to working bloodlines, that i was hoping to tap into some of the expertise available here.
whatever pup i purchase will be trained in ringsport/ppd style due to the fact that i live 2 miles from my nearest neighbor, and it'll be just myself and my daughter here by the time the dog's old enough to really work. the closest people i have to work with are police K-9 handlers (and i'm in touch with them re: decoy/tracking work, as there aren't any clubs real close), so that will be cool.
anyway, feedback on the lines/breeding?
