(sorry for posting this here, but it didn't get noticed in the correct folder... )
....can anyone help me find news stories or first hand accounts of PETA/ALF assaults on service dog owners? i keep hearing stories and rumours of this, but they are always so far from the original source that i hesitate to give them to anyone who asks me about this question. i feel like i am dodging the question when i direct them to sites that have info on what PETA/ALF do,and to their own site, which is pretty damning as is. but i would prefer to have some more concrete evidence of actual attacks on SD teams, but i haven't been able to track any down online, though i likely am not looking correctly. if anyone can help me with this,i would really appreciate it...
I googled it/Yahoo/MSN and look in our local news, PETA's main office is just down the road from me, I could not find any accounts from ANY source to suggest they are causing service dog owners trouble. I guess they figure thier plate is full enough
The correct response for an ALF attack on a service dog is with a GLOCK 40.
A well places shot right between the eyes. Unfortunately if there are more than one ALF members the second shot may have to be a rear rectal shot as they are trying to run away.
...ok,thats about what i came up with-i've been wondering if that was the SD commnunity's version of an urban legend. guess it is! fine by me,too-folks with SDs have enough to deal with,as it is. but this will be something nice to debunk!
So if PETA people are against pet ownership at all - I take it that the lady badmouthing service dogs and their owners at the Ocoee PetSmart location near me is just an idiot and not neccesarily a PETA freak?
...just a small problem with that solution, elegant as it is-you have to have a gun permit. since most disabled don't have a conceled weapon permit, never mind a gun of any description, this would not be a workable answer. in my case, anyone who tried that would wind up getting clobbered with a metal cane, same as anything that pesters Anja and i! a friend of mine, who uses one of those metal canes that has elastic up the middle, had fun beating a would be mugger with her cane, the elastic in said cane stretching out and wrapping the sections around the drunk's head!
Ed's from Wisconsin, IIRC, and Wisconsin doesn't issue or recognize carry permits.
(Though that may change - the assembly's voting on the veto override tomorrow.)
Ed's edit into message:
I hope this passes. Nothing wrong with honest ciutizens evening the playing field. Mn has had a carry permit for some time - I am not aware of one singel problem.
ALF is the largest internal terrorist organzation in the United States - THEY MAKE ME FEAR FOR MY LIFE !!!!! :-)

So does that make carrying illegal 100% or does that mean everyone can carry if they own a gun? Do they require gun licenses at all? Or is it a "go buy gun, carry it everywhere" type deal?
Ed's Edit:
It means they run a background check and you have to pass a saftey class.
