I recently bought a new German Shepherd puppy from an individual in my home state of Arkansas.....I am new to German Shepherds and I am curious in to how i figure out which type of shepherd she is as far as the European or American breed.........Is there a way I can figure this out....The owner told me that her mother had alot of german in her........Thanks
I just ordered an online pedigree and see some of the dogs are in red...what exactly does that mean ...also how can I look up some of these dogs on the pedigree
He emailed me his dogs pedigree and some photos of his pup, I can't tell, and it's an AKC pedigree so if it was working lines, it wouldn't show the titles anyway, but based on how the names sound, I'm thinking american lines? Just a guess.....
I've posted his pedigree up here, Brent I hope you don't mind, I will take it down if you want, but figured it's the easiest way to get the answer to your question
It's an AKC and all the dogs have AKC reg., so it's American show, best I can tell. There were one or two champions in there, and only Americans rate this way, correct? I mean, I have AKC papers for my dog, but the AKC reg. #'s aren't the only ones on there-they're the German and Czech ones. Also, all American names. But, what do I know?
Usually red means the dog has their championship. They've also put red on the only other two dogs that have titles, which are AKC obediance titles.
The German lines are a couple generations back, if they are German lines and aren't just German sounding names. It's an American line dog, basically. Jenni, I wouldn't even go so far as to say American show--just American. There are only two dogs with their championships, and that's four generations back. Since those are marked, I'm going to assume any others would be marked.
I only meant the one or two with the "Ch"(champion) in front of their names were show . I thought it was pretty obvious that most had no titles, just fancy names, and were pets, but I was trying not to sound mean.
