He's likely a Mal/ GSD cross, common in Holland from what I've seen.
We have the same type cross in the kennel that I train with, he's got a PH1 title and he's been worth every dime spent on him.
Here's a view of him ( middle of the page ): http://www.capitalcanine.com/ourdogs.htm
Thanks Sammy, he's a heck of a dog!
His nick name here is "The Black Dog O' Death" and a fair amount of forum user's can second me for that little joke... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I was offered pick of the litter out of the females of an upcoming breeding by a breeder in holland for a dutchie/mal cross. He showed me the photo of the bitch's mom and I was stunned. Color of a GSD, but didn't resemble a shepherd of any type. In fact, it looked like they threw a pug in there at some point LOL. I passed simply because I don't want to risk having a pup that looks like grandma, however unlikely that'd be, and I went with a papered purebred dutchie rather than the mal/dutchie crosses that are incredibly popular with the KNPV guys. I haven't really looked at the GSD/Dutchie or GSD/Mal crosses very carefully, it sounded too weird to consider, but that's a very nice looking dog Will.
On a side-note... what is the maximum score you can get in KNPV for a PH1? And what is the Object guarding title/trial/whatever it is? My pup's dad scored 423 on his PH1 and 356 on Objectbewaking (Object guarding). How good is this?
I saw a Dutchie that had great dane in it. Scary drive on that dog. Looked like a big brindle Mal, with a heavier jaw. I guess I would classify him as over the top. Didn't think of it till now.
Just from looking at the 'type'...I'd say he fits more into the GSD category than the Mal category...
But then again ...he could also be what they call a 'black mal'--Then it's very likely that you'll find mals and the Groenendael 'Andor' somewhere in the lines...But IMO...he just looks a bit too 'heavy' for a Mal/Andor combination...
