Hey, I have a question about deciphering pedigree lineage. My dog is from Trold Caesar. Why don't I see the Dam's name listed an the pedigree database. Or am I just missing it? Also which Ferro is his sire? What is the fast, slow, normal refering to? When I register my dog do I or should I include Trold as part of his listed name? I belive that my pup comes from Trold's second breeding.
Jamey, Although I am no expert in pedigree's, I do something about the Pedigree Database site.
Number one: It's almost always down
Number two: Unless you put the data into it yourself, you can't trust *any* pedigree on it
Please don't depend on that site for information, there's nothing like seeing a nice offical paper version of the pedigree in question to fully answer your questions.
Sorry, I know that's not much help, but it is the truth....
Trold is the kennel name of your dog's sire, the dog's name is Caesar. Therefore, it would be considered unethical to use Trold in the naming of your puppy as that is not your kennel. Perhaps your puppy's dam was never put on the pedigree website. Apparently you have the pedigree in hand? Normal and fast-normal are hip ratings, comparable to OFA. Fast-normal means near-normal. Would need more info to anwer the question about Fero. Nice pedigree, by the way.
Thanks, Sue. I was just sitting and looking all the way back on the sires of my dog and it traces back to a dog named Roland. This must be all the way back to the begining of the breed since there are no dates. Very interesting. I hope I can do the same with the Dam's side. I think I counted 29 or 30 generations back on the sires side. I wonder if maybe one of these dogs belonged to the father of the breed. They look very different as far back as 20 or so generations since no pictures exsist of these original animals ie.. Roland, Pollux, Kastor. I wonder what they must have looked like. Thanks again Sue!!
