With my pup maturing each and every day, I figure it is about the time to purchase the Basic OB and a prong collar. Does anyone have a preference on what type of prong to use? The quick release looks very simple, but will it last as well as the others or are the traditional collars a little better. Thanks....
Once you get used to putting on and releasing a prong collar it seems like it'd be faster than putting on one of those quick release collars. I've never used one though so I could be wrong. My current prong collar is a petsmart bought prong collar, I plan on "upgrading" to the Stainless Steel Herm Sprenger prong that Leerburg sells. I've never used one but I hear nothing but good things about those. I would choose SS over Chrome Plated any day.
I like my standard Herm Springer so much that I will try to find someone willing to trade my quick release one for another standard.....The standard is easier to put on IMO than the quick release.
Hi,
I use a stainless Herm Sprenger, medium 3.2mm with quick release snap..........have been toying with the smaller version with extra links, does anyone use the smaller version with GSD's
I use a small prong with my female GSD. She is 60 lbs, extremely high drive and a hard dog. The larger size prong had less of an effect on her. She would pretty much just ignore a correction with it.
I have been through many prongs, from the HS to the pet store cheap crap. I seem to bend/break/screw up them all whether they cost me $5 or $35.. maybe it is just me.
I have the quick-release HS collar. HS makes the best collar and is the only way to go but I wish I would have got just the regular model. The quick release snap is just unnecessary.
