I'm sure everyone has their particular favorite, but I use Frontline because it gets ticks, too. And you only have to apply every couple of months. The label says three months, but my dogs get bathed several times a month after swimming and getting muddy, so I notice it starting to wear off.

My vet is pushing "Revolution". I googled it, It's supposed to be for just about everything, but I sure would like to know if anyone else knows about it, pros & cons.
I have heard mixed reviews on it. There have been a few cases of toxicity through the ER here, but nothing tragic. I just don't see treating for ear mites and sarcoptic mange when your dog doesn't have those problems. I use Advantage on my cats because they are strictly indoor and don't have the tick exposure that the dogs do. I would also have to see some long-term heartworm prevention results to convince me. Sounds like an expensive alternative to dosing the bejesus out of them with ivomec once a month.
Out of curiosity --- how do you notice this? Do they start getting fleas?
If frontline is an every 3 month deal, I'll switch to that. I currently use Advantage because that's what I was told to use if I don't have tick problems.
If I remember, frontline plus kills fleas for up to 3 months, but ticks only for 30 days?
I had one male on revolution. Took him off of it after 3 or 4 police k9's came into her practice with heartworms while on it. Back to ivermec for him and frontline.
8. How long after application can my pet be bathed or go swimming?
FRONTLINE Brand Products remain effective for 30 days, even if a pet swims or is bathed. After application, keep the dog or cat from getting wet until the application area appears dry, usually 24 hours. If a FRONTLINE Brand Product is to be applied after a bath, make sure the pet is completely dry before application.
