Has anybody dealt with there dog constantly licking & biting there paws? This just started about a week ago. I feed an all natural diet and I haven't changed the diet.
i have two dogs that lick their paws.
one does it only when they are wet. she also has an insatiable desire for water.
the other licks them and chews them all the time. he has allergies.
his feet get bright pink. luckily though, he has had no irritation to the skin from licking. he has white fur, and saliva turns white fur pink....
A dog teaches a boy fidelity, perseverance, and to turn around three times before lying down.

I had a dog that was obsessive compulsive about it and it would get worse if she got stressed out, we moved, or something else unknown. Bitter apple will help break the cycle if it isn't mental. My girl must have liked that stuff because it wouldn't stop her. I tried it BLEH!
Could be many things, I would see the vet if it persists. It could be allergies, which is hard to determine the source. You would check the food first even if you’re feeding an all natural diet there could be a particular ingredient in it that causes an allergic reaction. I’ve also heard that allergic reactions don’t necessary show up right away, a dog can be on the same diet for quite some time without showing any signs.
If the dog is very stressed or depressed they sometimes show signs of self mutilation, like obsessively chewing their paws.
And just a though, depending on where you live, if it’s been snowing and they use salt on the roads, it could be that.
Hi Rock,
Just a thought, but have you changed the disinfectant you use to clean out the Kennel area. Some disinfectants are very strong and unless you clean the area completely it can cause irritation to the paws.
I had to take my 11 month GSD to the vet for a similar issue. His pads were cracked to the point of bleeding and developed a crust around his toes. It also disfigured a couple of his nails. I had tried "Bag Balm" with booties ect. Turns out he has Hypercaritosis. Antibiotics have not helped. The vet had us soak and clean his paws in a disinfectant every night for 2 weeks. The dog still runs and hides when ever someone runs bath water :-) Washing his feet helped for awhile but the crust has come back. He is now 13 months and they seem to improving somewhat. His paws are not pretty to look at though. Try the vet. It may be more than compulsive behaviour.
