It's a show about a (multiple actually) plastic surgeon in Beverhilly Hills on E. Anyway the main surgeon of the show a couple months back was looking at getting a fully trained protection dog and even went to some professional trainer that demonstrated with a mal biting on a sleeve in the office.
Anyway, in tonights episode, he brought home *and I quote* "an oversized white German Shephard puppy" and to do what...protect his family while he's working late at the office!
I'm no lineage expert by far but from what I've gathered from the board (and ironic there's a thread about this very subject right now) white shepherds in themselves are frowned upon, as are oversized ones. The fact that he bought a pup bred for the 2 qualities I found highly amuzing. Specially since he said he wants it for protection. As if his family environment is going to lend itself to a proper working dog relationship anyway.
It just goes to show ya, you can graduate from Harvard Med School but still have no brain
And now for my disclaimer
That being said I still love the show and immensely respect his plastic surgeon status. As an aspiring veterinarian I know the long and arduous path he has taken.
I saw the program where the dog received a lame sleeve bite in the Doctor's office from the ppd trainer......and when I think that there were probably many viewers that were impressed with that sub-standard demonstration , I feel both sad and pissed at the same time.
That Dr. struck me as a typical rich California client with no common sense that hadn't done any research into what he actually needed or could handle for a ppd - then add a ppd trainer putting on an utterly useless display to sell a dog and you have real quality television.
And ya'll wonder why I'm always talking about the problems with ppd trainers.
And as for the Dr........"a fool and his money are soon parted"

Is the same doc who now has added streaks to his hair & does all the "judo"? Isn't he the same one who always tries to talk women into having bigger boobs than they want in the first place? If so, he seems kind of sleezy to me...maybe it's all the pinstripe armani suites. He's probably a great doc, but I always walk away with a little bit of an "ick" factor. Some of the other docs seem sincere, but he leaves me with the impression that he glories in the fame of his little reality show. I know I should walk away, but it's the "train wreck" theory. I just have to look. Aslo, whats he going to do with his little chihuahuas that whenever he calls them they look at each other like "run away, run away!
