We have a 10 week gsd who is absolutly great and has great working lines and so forth. When my husband brought him home, I noticed that the tip of his tail is broke. You can actually see where it bends (almost like an L shape). The breeder that we got him from is a very respectable breeder where I live, so I was thinking that maybe this might have happened when he was born, maybe when he was going through the birth canal??? Has anyone ever heard of this before? It doesnt seem to bother him, and I have no intentions on showing him or breeding, he is going to be a family pet and will be working on our farm.
Thanks for any input.
Yup, had a pup that fractured a tail sometime before he was 8 wks old. His just had a bump in it where the joint was slightly dislocated as it healed. Took him to an orthopod who said don't mess with it. He said as long as he has feeling and good blood supply to the tail, he wouldn't recommend trying to fix it cuz you can easily end up with a worse situation due to the proliferation of nerves and blood vessels.
