I've been reading the posts on this forum everyday for maybe 1 month or so. Still pretty new to it. In doing so, I've seen that many of you live near each other and can benefit from getting together for seminars, or whatever. Some of you are even lucky enough to live near the experts...Will you're one of the people I'm talking about !
For example, I read the other day some guy posted that he was going to some park w/his GSD and anyone who wanted to meet him was welcome. Some informal gathering. I think it was in Georgia (why does everything dog related seem to take place in Georgia . Anyway, that's an example of what I'd love to find here in the New Jersey/New York area.
Is this post the appropriate way for me to find others in my area? If not, sorry and please guide my post accordingly. If I am in the right place, how do you all go about finding each other? I don't really want to search an 8,000 name database for people's proximity to me and then PM everyone...I'll look like a stalker !
Would I just put my general vicinity in my next post and hope for members that live near me to read it??
I would be willing to bet money that there are more GSD opportunities in NY than there are where I live,NM!!! We are 180 miles from Albuquerque and that is the only place that I'm aware of that offers any reliable training or sport events for GSD's in our state!
Yikes. I love my dog dearly but he's not how I make my living! Going 3 hours in one direction would be just too much time for me to put in for a walk and a chat . I hope you're right about possible multiple opportunities here. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

I hear you, I am in South Dakota and it is hard finding people to work with and train with, without having to travel 3+ hours all the time. I try to have more trainings here where I live but I guess my schedule is more flexible that most peoples.....travelling just gets so tedious....pack, unpack, pack, unpack.....with two dogs.....

Mike, I tried to get Will to search for possible relatives he may have here in NJ and visit them along with me and my dog !! He was very diplomatic when he turned me down and told me I was welcome in Georgia anytime!!
Beth, that depends on what direction you are 180 miles from Albuquerque in. I've done some training with a really good group in Los Alamos for seminars. I can PM the info to you if that is closer to you.
Michele
I called you and still waiting for your phone call...I guess I am a stalker
There are few people in CT area but it will be a drive. I am planning to go and see them sometimes in April. We can make a group if you want.
