I just purchased a 20 ft leash for my new gsd pup. Is this long enough for training or should I of gotten a longer line?
I use a 15ft leash, I borrow my helpers 30ft leash when doing agitation work, and I just ordered myself a 50ft line for increasing the distance between me and my dog, or increasing the distance for doing send aways in bitework so I don't feel like I'm right on top of the helper all the time. For obedience and puppy work 20ft is fine, if you find yourself wanting a longer line as the dog gets older and you find yourself in situations where it may be helpful, it never hurts to have multiple lengths of long lines... dealing with excess line is a pain in the butt.
