this is my first time posting on this forum, so im not exactly sure "how to use it", but for right now im going to treat it, as i would any other forum. now i have no full proof that my puppy (5 mos. Beagle/Pug mix, but has many more beagle characteristics)is eating his poo, other than ill see stains on his peewee pad, but no poo to be found, even after thoroughly searching for some. why does this happen? how should i stop this behavior? and most of all how will this behavior effect his health? someone please respond!

First, a vet visit because you don't know if he's going OK, and because there are a few poop-eating issues that are health-related.
Second, if there's no health reason for his doing it, and he's actually doing it (which you don't know yet), no, it's not likely to affect his health.
And fourth, if you click on "search" up in the corner and search "all forums" here for the key words with quotes, "eating poop" or "Coprophagia " you'll find loads of info here, too!
And others who have experienced this with their dogs will weigh in, too, I hope.
Our dog does this. Unfortunately I have seen it. Yuck! There are pills that are sold at pet stores that can help prevent it. You add it to their food and it's supposed to make the poop taste bad. Yeah, kind of seems like it already would. Anyway that can help. Many dogs do this because they saw the mother doing it. Mother dogs do it to keep the kennel clean when the puppies are little. If that's the case it's just a disgusting habit. We resolved it by cleaning up as soon as they went but if yours is going while alone that isn't really an option.
Be aware of other signs from your dog that something could be wrong. With our dog it turned out she wasn't fully digesting her food. Because of this her poop still smelled like food to her. Some signs of this would be a very loose stool and weight loss. EPI is not uncommon in German Shepherds. I don't know how often it happens with Beagles and Pugs.
Yes, I hate to admit it but both my gsds eat poo!! Not every time or all the time, but enough so we pick it up right away when we can. They also like to eat dirt. They are on a high quality raw diet, had blood work, had fecal tests, urine tests, all normal - in my researching on the net, it's gross to say, but "some dogs just like it" yuck!
