I just recently move two days ago to a neighbor hood, I use to live in a rural area but with close niegbors (about two or three acre in between us). I don't know what is going on but my niehbors that I am between both have dogs. She runs up to the fence to greet them of course but when she goes up to them her ears go back and sometimes she pees. I don't want her to think that the dogs are in higher rank than her, I want her to more dominant towards them. she actually ignored me a little to go up to the fence and lick the dog and run along the fence. this just started today so I want to stop it ASAP. I know that she will go and socialize with the dogs and become freinds. I use to go walk her in my old nieghborhood too and there wern't any problems. I don't know if there is a problem or what. she is only 5 months and I want her to realize that she is better than any dog on the block but still be able to play. I just want her to be freindly but not submissive. What should I do? She has rolled on her back yet and I hope it doesn't happen.
Thank you very much Candi I will surely look into those vids.
Al, know I'm not saying that she should be dominant over older dogs, I don't want her thinking that they are superior to her, any dog, old or young. She is my first pup and I know that when I do finally get a male pup in a year or so that he may take as leader since it will be a male and that whole wolf pack concept. But right now I am in charge and no one else or animal is above me or her.
I don't know I just want to raise her right, that is all. I may be just freaking out.
Thank you for your concern and help.
I'd go with the freaking out <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Rather than this, she needs to learn the other people and animals are not in her pack. To do this, you would work on focusing your pup's attention on you rather than other dogs. This is shown in the DVD 117 which the link to is posted above.
You will most likely need to take your pup out on a leash to prevent her from interacting with other dogs.
You need to work on creating a bond with your dog and being a FAIR, consistent leader rather than trying to be "in charge."
As you read, learn, and follow the balanced training advice offered on th Leerburg site, you will have an excellent beginning to raising your pup.
Ahh, ok, this makes much more since, you see I did that this morning, I saw that she didn't want to pay attention to me so I put her on her leash and kept her away, but I had to leave for school, which I am still at doing extra work. But I will do, I don't want to seem like an idiot, I'm just want the best for my animal.
