At what age does a GSD pup start getting the longer hair? When do the females go into heat the first time? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
My female came in heat a week before she turned 6 mo. I had another that had her first at a year and two months.
Im not sure I know what you mean by long hair.(coated)? The courser hair will usually show while there teathing. If its a coated dog , just the time it takes to grow.
I don't remember the exact times. First it comes in on that spot about 2-3 inches down the outside of there tail. The hair becomes shinier and grows out from there. I think about 9 to 16 weeks when that starts. Then it just slowly keeps growing in. It changes again sometime in the second year where they really get their adult coat.
