No way this site has not been seen before but I used search function and could not find it.
I thought the video was awfully darn close to that Harrison video but maybe it's original

That was kinda cool... has anyone seen their dogs work?
Was a little curious about a few points though.... looks like the dogs are primarily trained to do forearm bites, I saw dogs pass up very nice easy targets to jump up and take an arm bite, is this acceptable for a protection dog??
Also one of the german shepherds that was played in slow-mo seemed to be kinda mouthing on the bite.
What's the consensus on this?

I don't have any experience with PPDs so maybe I should just shut up right now but that did nothing to knock my socks off.
He talks about how he imports SchH dogs and than does PP training with them - uhhh....don't most Schutzhund dogs know how to sit in heel position without a command?!?! Maybe it is just mine that do It is also *so* impressive to watch about 3 minutes of formal recalls
Seemed awfully cheesy to me.

A few were chewy on the sleeve from what I saw. Some didn't have the greatest grips.
Although I have to add full grips are not emphasized as much in PPD world as they are in Schutzhund.

Yes, I'd like to know that as well.
Now, being the newbie here, I'll leave the pro's to critic
the handlers & dogs, but for me - I have to say - I called
my wife to my PC, and said, "Honey, this is exactly what I'm
trying to do with Sable (our GSD)! See, she can protect you!"

At least they do real life scenario training (or so the video suggests) but advertising that includes sending a PP dog on a running subject is just asking to get people in trouble.
A few of the dogs did surprise me though as they arent your typicall PP dog. All forearm and hand bites suggests not enough suit or muzzle work. Overall, I've seen alot worse. Wonder how much their asking...and does the older gentleman at the end do maintenance training?

With my being totally ignorant of PPD work, is it normal for a "bad guy" to be wearing a sleeve/bite jacket when working a dog from behind a fence? I've seen lots of dogs that will fire up on a sleeve. Wouldn't this type of work be done in "street clothes" to test/train civil drives? Just trying to learn a little more here.

Not sure what tricks folks try but I know when I was training my dogs for personal protection the decoy always wore regular civilian clothes.
My thoughts would think just like the "sleeve happy" dog who would not give a LIVE bite, the dog will be the same way with the suit during this "behind the fence" agitation or to increase suspension to the "bad guy".
Wonder if the dogs would bite or be "reactive" without the suit behind the fence.
I noted one guy shoving his arm in the car to the dog in what looks should have been a hidden sleeve but there is no way a hidden sleeve should show like that.

I thought that it was at least nice that the dogs were consistantly about the same across the board. There wasn't any one dog stinking, or ruling the roost. Gotta give him that, or whoever trained the dogs in the first place if he didn't.
I am smarter than my dog, your just not. |

Well, you saw about what, 40 bites total on the video if you watched the entire thing - and almost every single bite was to the left forearm ( except for the fleeing, which were tricept catches ), ala SchH. That would make me nervous indeed about the dogs value as a ppd ( but that's just me )
And there were way to many bites on the bite suit top.....
Not to mention that the dogs were "fed" or offered the sleeve far too often - not exactly "intense" training in my book.
In the video the business owner discussed "that what separates Ultimate K9 from the rest is the overall intensity, speed and unbelievable obedience of my dogs...."
Sorry, I'll be a bit sarcastic here and say that I didn't see anything special about any of those traits that he mentioned there on the dogs shown in the video.
< shrug >
To their credit, at least they appear to be doing scenario training, although without the threat needed to make it real for a ppd.
Edit - because I spell bad!
