In a recent discussion, approx March 4, about car restraints several of you mentioned that you use the ChampK-9 harness. How long ago did you purchase them and where? After reading all of the good things said, I went to their website to order one and am having difficulties. Any suggestions on how to get them to respond to phone or e-mail messages left?

I got mine a long time ago, and I've heard on more than one training site that they are having serious supply problems. I think I posted their email reply once; it said they acknowledged the problem but didn't see an answer yet.
Let me go through the stuff I saved back then and see if there was a different source or another product of similar quality.
I know someone on this forum once mentioned using a similar restraint that they thought was just as good.
I know I'm treating mine carefully now! I even toss a towel over them in the sun nowadays, since the source seems to be so shaky.
Was it the C.A.R.E. site you were trying to use?

No, it wasn't C.A.R.E, I understand that they are out of business, even though their website is still active. I ordered from CHAMPK-9.com, they have charged my card but I can't get any repsonse other than their automated response to email, and phone calls drop straight to voicemail.

Oh, right, I found my old emails. The manufacturer lost the distributor (C.A.R.E.) and can't manage the distribution themselves.
I have a call in to them on behalf of another training site, so I'll let you know if I get any results. Meanwhile, I'd consider contesting the charge with the credit card company if it's been unreasonably long.
Who was it here who had a restraint system that they thought was similar to and as good as the Champion? I can't find that post, but I swear it happened!

I found the post,Mike Armstrong mentioned that he uses the Ruff Rider they were back-ordered about six weeks when I was comparing the two. I'll give it a couple more days and then see about contesting the charge. It's just frustrating when a company just ignores inquiries even though they have their money. Thank you for all of your help.

Oh, right! I knew it was someone whose assessment I would trust; otherwise, I wouldn't have mentioned the post. (My memory is good -- it's just short.
When I reached the company (which turns out was November), they were overwhelmed with distribution and sadly deep in backorders. Maybe it has gotten worse. I *will* post if/when they return my call, which I made because a couple of people on a canine health site were P.O.'d that Champion had been talked up on the board and then apparently were unobtainable. I don't blame them.

Well, color me surprised, because they called back today after I left a voicemail message on March 23.
The gist: Losing their distributor (C.A.R.E.) was a blow, because Champion is basically a factory.
However, they *are* manufacturing and they *are* shipping. The guy was straightforward about their lag time as they get accustomed to doing their own shipping. Elan (or Elam, not positive) said that they are running 3 weeks on shipping and "a few days" on calling back with customer service. It's (303) 853-0040.
Based on this call, I would give it a little more time, and I personally will go back to recommending the product (with a caveat about the length of time the shipping process takes).

Connie, I was going to order the "puppy package", but I don't know, might not need "puppy" size by the time it comes

I recieved and email today that one of my harnesses shipped yesterday, along with read confirmation of my orginal email sent 3/15. So, I'll leave the order be and wait on the second one that has been backordered, expected in tomorrow but they are requesting a couple of additional weeks before another follow-up. Thanks for all of the assistance. I have learned so much just from reading this board. I have Great Pyrenees instead of GSD's but good info is good info no matter what the breed.
